That's sad. I'm sure a lot of their fans were anticipating it.

That's sad to hear because there's going to be many disappointed fans about this decision. The group is quite popular in China too, and it's sad they wanted them to leave out the Japanese members. They made the right decision to cancel because you can't have 2/5 missing due to politics.

It's going to be interesting because some Donghua are using Japanese animators. For example, To Be Hero X is a joint project between Chinese and Japanese studios. I think the publisher for that show is Aniplex. So, I wonder if projects such like that is in danger. That would be a shame because the show is very good

It's a major market. If you look at the recent Demon Slayer film it had opening weekend of $52million at the box office, and I think it reached $100 miillion within a month despite the ongoing conflict.

It's a market anime can't risk losing because even though anime is growing in North America, but China is not that far behind or might be ahead in certain type of anime when compared to America. I honestly, think a collapse would happen if there's a strict ban on anime in China. Losing box office, manga sales, merchandise, etc. Would do a lot of damage to the anime/manga industry imo. An industry can't just lose a top 3 market and recoup loses elsewhere.

It's even worse; tensions are escalating daily. Chinese and Russian warships entered Japanese territorial waters a few days ago. I'm quite surprised to see that some Koreans aren't aware of what's happening, even though they're directly affected.

It's better for the safety of the idols not to go there.
