Will YG have a survival show for their new boy group? What do you think of their survival shows?

  • Will YG have a survival show for his new boy group? 2

    1. YES (0) 0%
    2. NO (2) 100%

YG’s new boy group should be due to debut soon since Treasure is already a 5 year old group.

I actually enjoyed YG’s survival shows like WIN: Who Is Next, where they focused more on talent, skills and making their own original songs. I was rooting for Team A (WINNER) even though YG’s favoritism in the show was for Team B (iKON). I’m just not a fan of the more recent Produce-style boy group survival shows bc they seem to focus more on fan service, queerbaiting and visuals.

Will YG have a survival show for their new boy group? They had one for Treasure and BM but not sure if there’s any demand now for a YG survival show centered on a boy group like before. I'd watch it though!

  • While I personally have fun watching them,I don’t really get how the debut group suddenly become “besties” and work together so well after all these competitions they’ve gone through but maybe it’s just me who’s the problem. Also I find shows with way too many people (produce, planet series) to be a waste of time and money both for the company and trainees. When I heard that Fuko from gp999 will join iland2 I was like WHO??. Yes 90 people dancing on a fancy stage looks very cool but I hate how like half of them would get cut out by the first 4 episode and don’t even have a chance to show anything or worst, people won’t even know that they were there because they got no screentime at all,it’s just not possible to give screentime for 90 people and they pretty much gain nothing out of it.20-30 people are enough

    Here's my answer...

  • Because look what happened with WINNER and iKon... WINNER got attention, but not the sales, and iKon were put on the scrapheap... when they could've been the proto Treasure, if they got a modicum of attention from YHS.

They'll prob focus on visuals too this time and a bit of fan service here and there cuz it's kpop. I'm sure they are seeing the trends. I love WINNER but they were not conventionally attractive by kpop standards and they had like a 2 year music hiatus after their debut success which did not help. Idc for iKON lol so can't really say anything about them.

  • If YG sticks to less than 7 member group, I think it can do well. Treasure has way too many members for casual fans to care.

No the amount of members wasn’t the problem since they had a lot of hype and a pretty big fanbase from the show.

What killed treasure’s hype was the delayed debut and then the one guy leaving. Plus by the time they released boy it’d been way too long since the survival and people didn’t really care anymore. YG’s pacing shot them in the foot.

But I remember ppl were complaining about the lineup? They actually wanted the "silver boys" to debut instead. Do you remember?

Yeah I agree with the delayed debut playing a part too.

  • This! 4 actually might be too few esp if one ends up leaving like Taehyun. An odd 5-member group works better for dance and performance formations.

Couldn't agree more!! I hate choreo for large groups as at some point, there's always someone hidden behind another, and you feel like they're wasting their time dancing behind someone when they aren't visible 😒😒

Yesss I think I'm okay with a 7 member group max, anything bigger is a no. But I always prefer a 4-5 member group!

  • YG would NEVER! I keep repeating this but they are not even allowed to interact with other idols, let alone some strangers

but you know that some girls which were in Treasure Shining Solo actually got contracts with YG as actresses/models?

so they could do it in similar way and just cast maybe 2 outsiders of YG Fam, just to not let people say it was all staged/scripted

Oooo I thought they were random strangers. You watched their reality show? How was it?
