Why Most Koreans Don’t Want to Be K-pop Idols street interview in Seoul

Idol is one of the worst jobs in Korea:

- Low income, or most of the time no income,

- Low success rate,

- Their is a huge different between the top and the middle, more than most other jobs. In other jobs you can still living a stable life withing being mid, but mid idols = nugu. Even mid-top idols aren't that rich,

- The income (if any) is unstable,

- Debt,

- No union, no workers' right (because they aren't workers),

- Need dedicated investment in time from childhood,

- Low or no education,

- The experiences don't translate into other normal jobs like (office jobs) in cases they failed to debut or success (which are 99% of the cases)

well yeah...the top 1% of idols rake in like 98% of the pie. If you don't make it big, you're fucked.

I would guess that also depend on how you ask the queastion, would you like to TRY to be a kpop Idol or do you wan't to be one?

Do you want to be like Jennie in BP?

or would you like to be a kpop trainee?
