SM Entertainment Legal Update Regarding Malicious Acts Toward aespa
"Hello, this is SM Entertainment.
We would like to provide an update regarding the legal actions being taken in response to malicious posts and comments, deepfakes, manipulated photos/videos, defamatory content, insults, and sexual harassment related to our artists, aespa.
Through reports from fans and our own monitoring, we have been collecting evidence of malicious posts and comments targeting aespa. Based on this, we have filed criminal complaints on charges such as insult, defamation, and distribution of manipulated or false videos.
Investigations are currently underway for many of the identified suspects, and in some cases, final guilty verdicts have already been issued, including prison sentences of up to 3 years (with 5 years of probation) and fines.
As in this case, we have collected substantial evidence of malicious posts, defamatory content, sexual harassment, insults, ridicule, and the spreading of false information or rumors through videos and images across various online communities, including personal social media accounts. We are preparing legal actions against these acts.
We urge you not to become directly or indirectly involved in such illegal activities.
