They will need to at least wait for 3rd gen to fizzle out first because at this moment 3rd Gen is still going strong

Day6 is literally the No.1 group in SK now. And when BTS comes back and BP releases their 1 new non-album song shit will get worse 3rd Gen will make 5th look non-existent

I think it's next year but it could be this year if Illit's comeback is a hit. Now is the perfect chance to takeoff with 4th gen groups struggling to chart and declining album sales. I think by the end of the year the top 5 girl groups is going to be much different than what it was at the start of the year.

Well yeah, that’s why if it was up to me *now* would be considered the prime of 4th gen (probably starting with Aespa”s debut in 2020). 3rd gen has finally bitten the dust, so now it’s time for the next gen to rise to the top, i.e. it’s time for 4th gen to be in the spotlight

But Kpop companies and fans alike have always been so desperate to herald new gens, and it has unfortunately stuck. So now we’re already in 5th gen and 4th gen becomes this weird shadow gen entirely eclipsed by 3rd gen, where no bgs got general public recognition, and only 2 girl groups could ever really challenge Blackpink (Aespa and NewJeans).

I think it's a good thing none of them have truly hit it big big (at least consistently) (the only song you mentioned OP is magnetic right??)

competition begets competition - it means they are all on equal playing fields (at least with respect to K-charting) - that means they gotta continue to up the standards to beat not only fellow 5th groups but also 4th gen ones and even 3rd gen ones

Companies tend to push the group of the generation for about five years. After that they start focusing on the solo career and pushing the group of the next generation. Aespa for example should start focusing on their solo career next year and H2H will start to be at the top of the charts
