Do you guys remember Eyedi?

  • I was reminiscing the other day and Eyedi popped into my thoughts. She only had a handful of songs back in 2018/2019 but I simply adored them.

With her distinctive, nostalgic, not quite 80s/City Pop sound, she was really unique with a very mature sound not often heard in Korea.

Then, it seems like she just disappeared from the industry altogether...

    Anyone else remember her?

  • Yes I do! Made a few threads about her years ago. She is so niche I don't know if anyone here ever knew her to be able to remember her.

Her songs should be cult classics by now but people won't give the unknown a chance.

Yes I agree! Well I am glad a few users remember her, although this is giving me a slight existential crisis... she made such amazing songs so briefly and will only be more and more forgotten about as time goes on...

Yes, i miss her and i'm still waiting for her comeback :pepe-puddle:

    Don't give up hope! :crycat5:

  • She made very good music but her music isn't what's popular in Korea. I think she would've had a better chance if she attempted an international market. I felt her music was ahead of it's time because her song "Caffeine" is something a popular group would attempt nowadays.

I can't fully remember but I remember there was a post that her contract was terminated and is going by a different name

Oh wow, 4 years of litigation. As a NewJeans fan that puts a feeling of dread in me. I really hope she can make a new album at some point now, or perhaps pursue her acting career. I think she appeals to a similar crowd as Baek Yerin, so a more mature korean listener rather than a typical fan of idol groups.

Soloist tend to appeal more to that audience. It's rare to have a Bibi or IU that appeals to many audiences. Most of the soloist that appeals to fans of idol groups are usually former idols themselves.

For Eyedi timing is everything and I think she would've been more popular if she were to release her music today. Her sound is more welcoming today than it was 5-7 years ago. Hopefully she's able to pursue whatever she wants to do but it's sad to see talent not get recognized

The best way to view NewJeans is every case is different. So, her case will be much different than NewJeans. There's hope for NewJeans imo .
