Why do compaines always sabotage their own idols?

  • ? I think you're talking about JYPE where the whole 'Suzy bigger than Miss A' affair has traumatised JYP and his people so much that they decided to never ever let the idol get bigger than the group again.

As for SM, I don't see it: Yoona was bigger than the group when she had tv show super hit and started to be IT girl, and so far SM always seems to be pushing the most popular member at a time to get even bigger, providing more opportunities, gigs, CFs etc.

Which makes sense, if it helps a member, then it helps the group too - unless it grows into a Suzy vs Miss A situation, but that won't happen every time.

oh that applied to jyp obv, but they are not even trying to debut solos (yeji being the last one in years)

sm does but thats all, that as far as one can get and the debuts are always when the member loses steam and hype

  • in sm case, they never EVER want the idol to be bigger than the company or the group

Plus if someone leaves SM tries to get them unavailable for Korea. For example people wondered why Tiffany was only releasing music for the US-market now or why Jessica wasn't promoting in Korea and how it came that the ex. EXO members only work in China without comming back to Korea for concerts or stuff.

Well, SM bought themself into things that make it impossible for ex. artists to work in Korea. Amber for example said she was done with all of this when she had left SM and returned back to the US at one point stating she would do what she likes and not care for what SM does. However altho she released music after leaving SM we didn't saw her back in Korea. Jessica on the other hand was the first known case where SM payed TV stations to not let her into music shows and other type of TV concent like variety shows etc.

    It's sad

  • A combination of a lot of conflicting interests and natural human errors i'd say.

For the most part I don't think they mean to sabotage their own idols, especially if the groups are profitable or promising it's just that it takes so many people to run the massive behind the scenes engine for those groups that just one stretch of unfortunate events could create intense internal chaos, frustration, loss of trust and that can evolve into a massive loss of relevancy/support for the groups and in some cases even disbandment.

*phew that was a long ass sentence, myb lol
