Lisa's album discussion

Hi, so I wanted to discuss Lisa's album. You can do so as well in this thread.

So, I feel like the real problem of the album are:

- too many songs, album should have been shorter in my opinion, like maybe 10 tracks (minus Born Again)

- the concept felt amateurish/cartoonish but not in a good way smh, her creative director could have done so much better. or she should have gotten a better one. the album's aestetics aren't great, she deserved the best.

- maybe take more time to reflect and dive deeper into herself to write songs that were more personal or inspirational rather than make a repetitive money flex album. i think that part was the most dissapointing. i liked Lisa the best in BP and I was quite exited to dive deeper into her real self, but with all these alter ego i think she just lost her sense of self more than anything.

It makes me think that maybe she is not an album type of artist but more single driven one. Like she did so great on Money and New Women.

This version of the album for example sounds so much better to me, like bangers after bangers:

I didn't had Born Again because even though it's one of the best songs (if not the best), I don't think that song fits Lisa and specially this album. Like it disturbs the flow idk.

This version could still feel a bit empty, but at least it's dynamics and catchy. Like it's a solid kpop album. It's just not great. I definitly prefer it to Rose's album though.

It has a lot to do with the fact that i find Lisa has a more distinctive identity as an artist. There is some b*tchy/cunty/hot girl bratiness that makes her stand out. It comes out perfectly on her song Money for example.

Honestly the pitchfork review was unecessery because of how mean and nasty it was. Really if you have so much bad things to say, just stay quiet about the debut album of an artist . I feel like it's even more wrong because she is building herself and just released it a week ago. It just feels wrong you know...

Anyway, regardless, there are some serious bops on the record and FUTW has risen for me. It's a very BP's typa bop if anything. I think she might be the one who stayed the closest to the BP sound.

A lot of lyrics feels empty, with no emotions (definitely not Dream). She should stop bragging and mentioning her name, that's so childish and overdone. I don't like my country's popular music for that reason.

I really don't like elastigirl, fuck up the world (way too noisy for me and future being included on the track doesn't help at all), Rapunzel (the beat is awesome tho), moonlight kiss (big downgrade to the original), badgirl and lifestyle are especially awful lyrics wise . Maybe i should have mention what i like instead of what i don't like lol.

Now that i talked about album i realized that i like less songs than i thought lol.

Let's hope her next album will be more personal.

I thought Lifestyle was a well made song. It's a bop!

I don't mind her flexing money, when it's well done specially. But just not in so many tracks. It gets repetitive and boring.

FUTW and EG are fine, they grew on me. I think her fandom and blinks will enjoy it.

I think cunty and fun vibes suits her well. She doesn't have to take herself too seriously, she should have just balanced out with more personal songs. and better artwork.

I think the major issue with her album is the legs because New Woman, Born Again, and Moonlight were well received. However, those albums released way too far apart from release. Born Again most likely would've been a better choice for title track instead of FTW. I think FTW as a title track was the wrong move because the song doesn't leave that good of an impression. I just don't think the western audience was looking for a song like that and something like Born Again is more in line with what people wanted.

The major thing her and her team needs to do is improve lyrics and become a bit more vulnerable. I don't think we leanred much about Lisa with her debut album. I don't think it's awful like people are saying online, but it doesn't leave a strong lasting impression. I think it's okay to flex but I felt there's just too many songs where that happened and it got repetitive. Hopefully for her follow up album she addresses these issues because I think it's salvageable but I think her team got a lot of things wrong. Lastly, I hope she can give us a performance song for her follow up because that part I found strange is she didn't play to her strengths. In my head I kept on saying " you're Lisa and why aren't you providing us with killer choreography"

personally i don't really get the born again song choice for lisa. it just doesn't vibes with her idk. actually i don't think it really belongs on AE. it was probably better just as a single to hype up her album release maybe.

mmm. apart of that, i think hard rap isn't really what suits lisa, that's why maybe futw didn't do that well. cunty/hot girl/kinda braty rap suits her more. like on money.

there is definitly an identity to her voice so that's a good thing, it makes her standout. but instead of wanting to be tought or smth, being feminine/hot/cunty would suit her more i think. and definitly focusing on dance performance. she is SO good at that!

My biggest complaint is lyrics. If anything being very confident, fun and unserious in a way is a part of Lisa's strength, so definitely lean into that feeling. There is a way to stay in the fun-wanna-live-my-rich-life-freely lane without it ending up so monotone and lacking, and a way to do it that still give some more genuine looks into her as a person/artist.

Album also struggles with cohesiveness like you said.

This all being said, I do think the album has personality, unlike what some reviews say. And I also think Lisa sounds good. There are some songs I love, New Woman and Chill especially. Also, Elastigirl is a very fun song that I feel like Lisa is one of the few that actually can pull off, this type of vibe is a strength of her.

I also agree that she doesn't need to rap like she did on futw. I think the rap she did felt a bit dated because the current pop rap scene doesn't rap about the stuff she was rapping about . I think key for her is to improve lyrics, get a bit more personal, and I think she will shine with more confidence. The only thing I worry about is the reception will affect her confidence. I think many became a fan of Lisa due to her confidence and how good of a performer she is.

My wish for her comeback is to move away from the superficial lyrics. Get a bit more personal, so people can know more about her. Lastly, I want lilifilm type of performance for her MVs because that series was so good and as a fan i was disappointed we didn't get anything close to that. I think it's okay if she's not that strong of a vocalist because many popstars get away with it by being strong performers and I think Lisa can do that.

And bro, that would be heartbreaking . Her confidence is what makes her so special . That's why i said this pitchfork review just a week in her debut album felt so cruel and wrong. she must feel so stressed, exited and emotional about her first album release and this dude just sh*ts on her work one day in . i hope she will rise above criticism and use it as a fuel to improve herself .

She got so much to offer and she is the legendary LISA .
