Exploring gugudan

just like a lot of "nugu" 3rd gen ggs they are very underrated. but I always thought these ggs suffered from post ioi effect, where the discrepancy in popularity between members who were in ioi and those who were not was too huge for them to survive in the long run as group. I think this is especially the case in gugudan bc imo sejeong completely overshadowed the rest of the group with her charisma and vocals.

jellyfish is indeed a trash company but their a&r and production team are top notch, they did an amazing job with vixx, gugudan, verivery and evnne discographies.

my fav gugudan songs are chococo and not that type. bangers.

They were one of the best vocal groups of the third generation. They had few comebacks and they were irregular. Their concept was inspired by literature and fairy tales and it set them apart too. I will post some of my favorite songs by them, I don't know if you have listened to them yet :

As someone else said, the discrepancy in popularity between Sejeong and Mina to the rest of the group was massive.

IMO they should have dropped a couple of members and been a smaller group. Maybe the aforementioned 2 and Hana, and then maybe 2 or 3 out of the rest.

With Sejeong, Haebin was unfortunately made pretty redudant, similar to Dawon in WJSN with Yeonjung joining.

Also maybe the inconsistent type of visuals in the sense that some members would suit a cute concept (Mina, Mimi, Hyeyeon, Sally) and the other would fit a more mature concept (Sejeong, Nayoung, Hana, Soyee)
