Since when being a Multi-stan became a plague?

  • First guy summed it up pretty well. Personally, Im very particular about the groups I say I stan, because I dont want to seem dishonest when talking about other groups I borderline stan. I dont say I stan a group unless I listen to at least like 70% of their disco, buy their albums, and watch a decent amount of variety content. In that sense I only stan Bp, Twice, IVE, and BM. Otherwise I just say I casually follow the group. I know stanning can have a different meaning for everyone but I think having a clear line is important.

I have never liked the word "stan" and never use it myself. But I think most people mean "fan of multiple groups" when they use the term "multi"/"mulitstan".

This is also true. I don't like the word "STAN", but I keep using it, because I read it a lot!

Most of my faves are from the first 3 gen, so saying I'm a "stan" isn't really true, because 90% of them don't release too much content, BUT that doesn't mean I'm not a FAN of them anymore.

I mean, I LOVE FinKL and S.E.S, but they are not active anymore, but I always watch pretty much everything they do.

I'm a FAN of more than 50 Korean artists (including groups, soloists, and others), but out of these 50 artists I could name like 5 or 6 that actually release a LOT of contents regularly.

Since MAMAMOO, I don't think I'm really attached to anyone. Maybe Gidle, but that's all. This new generation is totally different in terms of content and showing their real selves or personalities.

I think, in this way, the 3rd gen was the peak. Now, Idols are really like Idols.

  • This aspect of Kpop is really weird to me. I also listen to lots of metal. In that community you are encouraged to listen to as many different bands as possible. Why limit yourself to one group when there is so much good music out there. I don't get it.

    Best answer by far! :meme-cheers:

I love almost every music genre, except Techno and similar to that. If I get 1 dollar/euro for every artist I love, I would be a billionaire.😅

  • From what I' ve seem on Twitter, users who don't like multis think that multis will throw their faves under the bus. If they stay silent or pick a side, they will still received criticism.

Also true, they really think Multis are like this.

Funny, because these "Singles" (how should I call them? 😂) fighting within their own fandom if their faves become a solo artist. So, it's pretty easy to see who's the real fan.

  • I’ve never understood being against multi-fans or ‘stans’. I’m a music fan first and foremost. I always want to be on the lookout for new things and I will give my time to anyone that catches my interest, and yes, shell out my money on albums and tours if they come to me. Also, the artists I follow openly disclose how many artists or groups they also love and are fans of so…

Anyway, just on the most basic level, I’m not really fond of anyone who tries to police what it means to be a ‘real fan’, or what the qualifiers for that should be.
