I cherish the peaceful time on the Korean Peninsula that we created together during President Trump’s administration as a precious memory. President Trump and I walked a path that no one had previously taken, working together for lasting peace on the Korean Peninsula and complete denuclearization. President Trump is a courageous leader who is able to negotiate peace even with adversarial counterparts. I hope that under his practical leadership and bold decision-making, the stalled North Korea-U.S. talks will resume, and that peace on the Korean Peninsula and in Northeast Asia will become even more solidified.
I take great pride in the way President Trump and I developed the U.S.-South Korea alliance into a mutually beneficial partnership. In the second term of the Trump administration, I hope the U.S.-South Korea alliance will continue to grow in all areas, developing into a comprehensive and cooperative alliance that is more mutually beneficial and healthy."
