According to the Seoul Yongsan Police Station, the man entered the HYBE building through the basement on the afternoon of the 6th. CCTV footage shows that he walked into the building through the front entrance around 4 PM and sat in the lobby on the first floor for about an hour. He then used a parking lot elevator, which does not require passing through security doors, to go down to the basement.
Taking advantage of lax security, the man crossed a glass security door to enter the building and roamed between the 3rd and 18th floors, staying inside the building for two nights and three days.
On the afternoon of the 8th, a HYBE staff member noticed the man acting suspiciously on the 5th floor and reported him to the police. The police, who arrived after receiving the report, arrested the man around 6:30 PM the same day. He was charged with breaking and entering.
Police investigations revealed that the man was unemployed and did not steal anything or carry any weapons during the incident. It is reported that he stayed and ate in the cafeteria used by HYBE trainees and staff.
A police spokesperson stated, “The man is incoherent, so we plan to investigate his motives based on the evidence.”
HYBE said, “We confirmed that the man illegally entered the building and reported it to the police. We are actively cooperating with the investigation to ensure severe punishment.”
