Why would some K-Pop groups disband quietly?

There are several reasons: the company shuts them down and they can't communicate until they use their private social networks, which has happened. They don't want to see the reactions from fans. They can't handle saying goodbye to fans. Or the company promises a statement and it doesn't follow through.
I've personally seen this happen to a few groups.

It's not even a 4th gen thing, most kpop groups don't survive long. Pandemic didn't help but it's not something completely unusual. If a group from smaller label survives for more than 2 years that's something worth celebrating lol.

Maybe they are just humble and know no one cares about them and it would just be awkard to do some kind of official press release or something....
And I guess a lot of the disbanments is kind of a transition process. It's starts with the company and group realize "this is not going so good", the company hesitates, "Hm what now?". And during that time the groups enters a hiatus stage, maybe the group members slowly starting to spend less and less time with the group doing other stuff and suddenly the group is no more.
