Well, yes, a real artist only cares about the art they're creating. What's wrong with that sentence? It doesn't mean they can't be happy if they become successful, but if they only want to become an artist, so they can be famous, they're not real artists, simple as that! That's all I'm saying.
It's like when people want to become a doctor to earn a lot of money, not to help people. We can say this about any other profession. There's a huge difference between doing something solely for the fame and wanting to reach a certain level with your art. There are a LOT of people who only doing things so they can be famous. I'm only talking about those people when I say, they're not real artists.
Everyone want to be recognized, myself included, not just artists, and it feels bad when it's not happening, but real artists never give up.
I don't think we are in completely different pages now that you explained your point properly, even though I disagree with one sentence or another.
The way you worded it previously made it seem you were condemning them for simply wanting recognition.
