I never felt EXO wanted to disband. They just got tired of the lack of focus for their own individual artistic directions. I’m glad if everyone gets what they want.

SNSD has no touring prospects and no scope to make money as a group with sales and fandom support to the extent EXO does. Makes sense for them to focus on solo. I’m sure exo members like their money which you can make a tonne of as an exo member esp with album drops and touring.
I don’t believe EXO are best friends who love each other, but it’s the best financial decision for them to keep their EXO brand going. Which they will.
