While replying to a thread , I came up with an idea .
When I am not listening to the singer I have mentioned the most, or New Jeans, I listen to some older style of pop.
There is a singer named Petula Clark, who is 91 now. She is perhaps best known with her hit 'Downtown', in 1962, and another #1 at Hot 100, "My Love", in 1966 AFTER the Beatles invasion.
She was a child performer, singing to the Allied soldiers in radio in 1940s, and at 91 she is still singing, although I prefer not to bring her recent videos here.
Given that Hong Kong's 4 heavenly Kings, Jackie Cheung, Andy Lau (famous as an actor as well, although the others acted too), Aaron Kwok and Leon Lai are still going strong in their 60s, it is likely that unlike KPop figures in the earlier generation, the big names of 3rd generation (plus a lone 2nd generation figure, whose name I do not have to mention since everyone will know who I am talking about by looking at my sig) are likely to be staying with us for a loooong time.
What songs of your faves will be singable when they are in their 70s and 80s? As for me, I will try to outlive the Singer who had travelled to Japan with Lee Jongsuk, but it will be hard.
Naturally dance numbers will be harder to do. Dance trends change each year, and it gets to be a bit hard to dance once you pass a certain age.
I will have to start with the singer I mentioned the most - Through the Night, Heart, Give you my heart, Winter Sleep, Knees.
