This has been going on for a while. It's even a kpop fandom inside joke that, whenever Stray Kids announces a comeback, Red Velvet "has one week to respond".
Take a look at this. List of overlapping comebacks between Stray Kids and Red Velvet:
- My Pace and Power Up (both on August 6, 2018)
- Side Effects and Zimzalabim (both June 19, 2019)
- Levanter and Psycho (December 9 and December 23, 2019)
- Thunderous and Queendom (August 23 and August 16, 2021)
- Maniac and Feel My Rhythm (March 18 and March 21, 2022)
- CASE 143 and 28 Reasons (October 7 and October 4, 2022)
Overlapping promotions:
- Get Cool and RBB (December 2018)
- God's Menu/Easy and Monster (July 2020)
And now the trend will continue with the release of Rock Star on November 10 and What a Chill Kill on November 13.
My theory is that both groups conspire to come back and promote at the same time in order to leave the kpop industry in a state of shock and dizziness with their joint slay. But both groups keep it lowkey which is why, even with all these overlapping comebacks, there are close to 0 interactions between Stray Kids and Red Velvet members. /j
Imagine having these two released on the same day? The kpop industry was never the same
