Russia failed to meet its objectives early in the invasion more from their own incompetence than anything. They made a ton of mistakes even with basic planning and coordinating ground and air forces etc. If they had not bungled things up it would a lot different.

Iraq lost the conventional war to the US in a month for example.

France had the most powerful military in the world before WW2 but it had bad leadership and was very poor at the tactical and operational level which is why it lost to Germany in the manner it did.

It would be much more useful for SK to have a professional volunteer elite military than a conscript army in my opinion.

Korea is a very competitive country and every male having to serve in the military is one of the few 'equalizers' which keeps society stable.

Of course, those from better backgrounds tend to serve in more comfortable spots, but as we have seen from Psy, whose father was worth $400 million during the Gangnam Style craze, having to serve twice because he continued to singing while supposedly serving by working in a defense contractor (in Korean law, one cannot earn income when one is serving in the military in any way) and was sent to the Front because he violated the military law, sending successful people to lose some of their best years brings a lot of comfort to the bottom half of Korean men.

Now being a geek, that just know how to play games, is servir a major purpose for the country, but spreading it's culture to the world no. Korea is a shit show.

This is true we have already seen how deadly effective this is already in ukraine where they have successfully pulled off hundreds of devastating drone attacks on Russian military assets including important bases, warships aircraft etc including resently where they conducted overseas special operations against Russia wager in Africa using drones and piloting this kamikaze drone into the passenger seat of a fleeing enemy gun truck blowing it up. Alot of these drone controllers including the one's used by western militaries resemble heavily the ease and ergonomics of an Xbox controller 🎮 so it's very likely your national defense will be carried out by the nerd that can not only fix your pc and phone but also had the quickest reflexes from playing video games translate into flying drones or operating other remote controlled weapon systems. though soft power is important but it is less important than actual power just look at Ukraine what are they asking for? More guns and people to use them not more singers to sing for them.
