Faker and Team Korea earn military exemption after winning gold medal in League of Legends at the Asian Games

  • I honestly don't know what the best outcome is, aside from whatever one ends the war and stops all the killing. The world is a weird and interesting place, unified Communist Vietnam has a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with the US.

  • Unpopular opinion, but they'd be serving in the interest of S. Korea better if they lost and enlisted rather than winning the medal. As an unpopular man once said, "From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs."

The skillset that top esports players possess is among the top skillsets that will be required to defend countries and win kinetic wars in the future. For example, kinetic military action will require rapid reflexes and hand-eye coordination when remote controlling advanced drone systems and reacting to the large amounts of data compiled by AI. In fact, it wouldn't be surprising to see militaries start new special forces units specializing in the operation of these types of technological systems, if they haven't already.

In the "higher phase of communist society" for talent not to go to waste, esports medalists would volunteer to serve and award winning idols would continue to release music and tour. The former would fulfill the need of national security. And the latter the need of national soft power. Too bad utopia only exist in theory.

    Indeed..

The Korean incels who went berserk against BTS' exemption mostly came from the lower rungs of society, full of jealousy and hatred upon those who were successful, and wanted to destroy them and got their wish.

I want to write about how I feel about it but the mods won't allow it.

  • Korea is a very competitive country and every male having to serve in the military is one of the few 'equalizers' which keeps society stable.

Of course, those from better backgrounds tend to serve in more comfortable spots, but as we have seen from Psy, whose father was worth $400 million during the Gangnam Style craze, having to serve twice because he continued to singing while supposedly serving by working in a defense contractor (in Korean law, one cannot earn income when one is serving in the military in any way) and was sent to the Front because he violated the military law, sending successful people to lose some of their best years brings a lot of comfort to the bottom half of Korean men.

I want to write more but the mods won't allow me.

This is true we have already seen how deadly effective this is already in ukraine where they have successfully pulled off hundreds of devastating drone attacks on Russian military assets including important bases, warships aircraft etc including resently where they conducted overseas special operations against Russia wager in Africa using drones and piloting this kamikaze drone into the passenger seat of a fleeing enemy gun truck blowing it up. Alot of these drone controllers including the one's used by western militaries resemble heavily the ease and ergonomics of an Xbox controller 🎮 so it's very likely your national defense will be carried out by the nerd that can not only fix your pc and phone but also had the quickest reflexes from playing video games translate into flying drones or operating other remote controlled weapon systems. though soft power is important but it is less important than actual power just look at Ukraine what are they asking for? More guns and people to use them not more singers to sing for them.
