Social media accounts went from sth idols did for fun to sth that is very integral to kpop's business model and money making machine.
I remember in 2008-2010 when SHINee had m2day(korean sns) accounts, it was only for trolling and shit posting. SM had 0 control or say in how they run it.
Now idol's instagram accounts are a tool for money making and the labels see mistakes made on the ig posts can cost them money. So agencies are much more controlling now.
