What is Kakao privilege ?

  • For this reason I sincerely doubt Kakao cares about any random kpop group that's deep in its subsidiaries lol.

why not if these groups can bring them a lot of money in the future,

doesn't every company dream of having a successful group like b...?

it's never a good sign when a big conglomerate that controls social media wants to get involved in the music business

BTS is an anomaly, companies can try to replicate but they'll just be wasting money. The average successful group brings in a few million per year in profit, that's honestly nothing compared to Kakao's main ventures. Even now they're trying to funnel kpop IP into their webtoon business (see: the SM battle) because it's way more profitable than music streaming services like Melon.

And I agree, I also wish Kakao didn't get involved in the music industry. I don't think they care about music but that's obviously not stopping them lol.

  • Just say hypothetically some group releases a song and its stuck around #70 on Melon for 5 days. Then suddenly without any other external factor like a fancam going viral like Hani's Up and Down, it magically shoots up to #3 on Melon. That is Kakao privilege.

You're talking about StayC's "teddy bear", right? How do you explain it rising on every other chart at the same time tho
