Universal Japan has reportedly filed to obtain exclusive management rights of Loona

  • According to an exclusive media outlet report on February 2, Universal Japan is seeking to acquire exclusive management rights of girl group LOONA. Universal Japan has been LOONA's management agency for the group's Japanese promotions since 2019.

Allegedly, in September of 2019 when the members of LOONA initially signed their Japanese management contracts, the contract stated, "Even in the case that the artists' contract with BlockBerry Creative is broken or nullified, the members must continue to fulfill their duties for this specific contract. Should they violate any terms of this contract, the artists must pay damages for failing to fulfill their responsibilities according to Japanese law."

In the case that Universal Japan decides to seek legal rights over LOONA's group management, all 12 members including the group's previously removed member Chuu may be obliged to fulfill duties outlined by their exclusive contracts for at least 3 years.

Insiders claim that Universal Japan plans on acquiring LOONA's management rights in order to have the group resume active promotions in Japan, including through album releases, fan meetings, and more.

In the past, other K-Pop girl groups have experienced cases where they continued group activities in Japan, even after halting official group activities in Korea.

Meanwhile, back on January 13, LOONA members HeeJin, Kim Lip, JinSoul, and Choerry successfully won their lawsuit against BlockBerry Creative for the nullification of their exclusive contracts. Members HaSeul, YeoJin, Yves, Olivia Hye, and Go Won, on the other hand, lost their lawsuit and remain tied to BlockBerry Creative.

  • They will be dragged to Japan, and by the time they are freed from the Japanese contract, any remaining popularity Chuu has will be gone.

Actions beget reactions, and the Japanese are a people who do not tolerate breach of contracts

  • So they might face another lawsuit if they can't/won't promote in japan?

    Give my girls a break!

They won't be able to do anything, in any country. Japan is strict on that. They will be dragged to Japan, and Universal Japan will do whatever it feels to Loona. So Loona is now a Japanese act.

that part ain't actually bad it would mean they could promote as full group and they've started to get some people attracted in Japan with their releases, and concerts were on demand as well

and I think Universal Japan would at least pay girls money... not like BBC

Not necessarily. Any money UJ will pay will be to to BBC since it is between UJ and BBC, and the girls will probably see not a single yen.

And Chuu will be stuck in Japan for at least 3 years, and any base she built in Korea will be gone.

but that overall doesn't make much sense because

if they signed deal in 2019

did they sign something for 7 years?

    that's hella misleading...

also it says acquire exclusive management rights

instead of acquire management rights to Japan, which they already have?!

  • Basically Universal Japan will take over every right Loona has on everyone on earth. Why, who knows, but most likely Loona will be summoned to Japan and do nothing.

  • SO apparently BBcreative even got Universal Japan money and DIDNT PAY THE GIRLS A CENT! And now because they're indebted to them, they must give them the girls as collateral damage... for AT LEAST 3 yrs???? it says "AT LEAST" .. meaning they're bound to be under universal UNTIL their debt is paid.

    THIS IS HORRIBLE!!!!!

    omg..this is HORRIBLE!!!

what kind of deal is this???? oh right, BBcreative, cus they're all about ENSLAVEMENT and NOT about artistry, and ANY DEALS they made was to ensure that the girls will forever be enslaved.

they even made sure if the girls win their lawsuit, ANOTHER COMPANY HAVE THE RIGHTS TO ENSLAVE THEM?????

PLZ, DONT SUPPORT ANY POLARIS/MODHAUS/BBCREATIVE - OR ANY OTHER COMPANY AFFILIATED WITH THEM . THIS IS NOT AN ENTERTAINMENT COMPANY!!!!!!
