Why does Red Velvet refuse to do another concept like Psycho?

People really want this velvet side from them but they don’t deliver it again, even when it’s their biggest hit. Why?

After listening to it for a couple year, i think it's overrated. I loved it at first but it kind of peters out in the end, very strong verses and chorus, but lackluster and boring bridge and outro, i usually stop listening to it after the second chorus. I do love how they disguised what is essentially a power ballad and made it seem like some generic RnB song, it's much much better than 99 percent of generic RnB stuff out there.

Because Psycho was a follow up of Bad Boy. Two is enough

Bad boy actually was followed up by Really Bad Boy

Because SME is trying to make Aespa their main gg and RV has the potential to not let this happen if they are given good songs like Psycho and they are "old". I don't see SME investing much in them, just enough to keep the fanbase.

International fans may love the velvet, but the bulk of their disco and most of their hits are red. Why is it surprising to not see more velvet when it’s always been that way?

Additionally, Bad Boy (a velvet song) was followed up by Really Bad Boy (another velvet song), which wasn’t popular in Korea. Maybe that’s why SM is hesitant to do another Velvet track too soon without enough space between them? (Just guessing here but mostly it goes back to the first point.)

Feel My Rhythm was a song that was leaning towards the Bad Boy and Psycho side, far more velvet than red.

Even their performance music video was VERY similar in vibe to Psycho style of music video

I guess SM thought it was time for a red type of song again. It's clearly not a Red Flavor type of Red song though, I like other red type RV songs more.

Feel My Rhythm would have been more of a sister song to Psycho without the weird cartoony backing music.

They are interested in innovation and art, all their songs they will try to make different soundwise and conceptwise from previous work. To answer your question, it's quite difficult for producers to just make a song that continues off Psycho (or from Peek-A-Boo another famous RV song) but is still exciting and fresh. Maybe they just don't have an idea on how to make a good sequel/evolution of Psycho without it seeming the same

SM trying their best to taint RV’s discography. Birthday is 👎🏻. I think this comeback is more and more looking like a cash grab.

a fact not every group can afford to do. it has been a while for RV members and im sure they are loaded$$, so they can do whatever they want. not charting? its ok, they still got banks. thats a good life, make music you want, still get royalties.
