i have a time today so i finally decided to do another one
still dont know where my cajun vocab book is but
here's another simple one
ill leave this side note in every thread just as a heads up
cajun takes words from english and french but they dont always have the same meaning/very vague version of the meaning. and things may be pronounced slightly different. clarifying in case youre not familiar with the dialect / speak french and thinking " " bc it means something totally different LOL.
alright sit down class
a simple one
today's cajun phrase of the day
"sha" / "sha bebe"
its pretty straight forward taking from french, but with spelling differences.
pronounced:
sha (sounds exactly how it looks idk lol)
beb (or beh-beh)
*im pretty sure "beb" is the correct way (for cajun), && its what my grandparents would say
but ive heard both ways so i thought id add both lolz.
sha
(taken from the french word "cher")
you can use it as a term of endearment like "darling" "sweetie"
but it's main meaning is "cute"
bebe
literally just baby. lol.
how to use:
when you say "sha beb", it's really mostly used when you see something so cute & precious, like babies or cute animals doing something adorable.
when you just say "sha" alone, it can be referring to a more broader audience, like terms of endearment to call your loved ones.
used in a sentence:
- "heres a picture of our baby!
"
- "awww, sha beb!"
