Do you think idols should still finish college?

  • Do you think they should at least still try to get a college degree? Suddenly this year we see so many idols skipping. China doesn’t seem too fond of idols skipping college either. I mean idol career could be unstable and with a college degree they could get another job.

  • They should still finish their high school education of possible. If they want to attend college while working as an idol that's cool but in no way necessary, they can always do it later.

But yeah, a lot of idols end up with failed careers and no education. That's a shitty position to be in to say the least. Even successful idols rarely earn enough money to live the rest of their life on it. Only groups like Bigbang, Blackpink and ofc BTS are that rich.

  • Jesus God damn bro. You can't grasp common sense

  • The newer ones don't seem to be finishing middle school. :-)

  • There are only three reasons people go to college:

    1. To get a degree for a well earning career

Being an idol is already a well earning career.

    2. To learn new skills in a particular field of interest (usually something practical like business or sciences)

Most idols don't venture into fields outsides being an idol, actor, or TV /Internet personality which are skills they already receive training for at their company. Any other skills in fields outside of those are pointless for them unless they plan to completely change careers. which, if they are choosing to forgo college, they obbiously aren't.

    3. The experience.

They are idols. As such, they've already (sadly) forfeited any opportunity there was to have the normal college experiences. They wouldn't be able to partake in college culture because anything they do will immediately be put up on the internet for the world to judge their characters. Not that it would matter, because they wouldn't even have the time to get up to the typical college shenanigans all while balancing school work and theiridol schedules. It would just be a terrible and unhealthy experience for them.

    tl:dr

Well earning idols going to college is little more than formality at this point unless they plan to stop being an idol, in which case, it's not as if there is an age restriction on college. If in the future they decide they want to persue something else, they will more than have the money and free time to do so after retiring from idol life.

Most idols survive out of business ventures if their music career flops, if they dont have business skills they end up scammed by their managers or live by being streamers.

  • The ones skipping are already rich. There's no risk. They can always go back and study if they find something they want to do.

You don't need a degree in business to run a business.

And what "most idols" are you speaking of? Most idols don't run their own business. They buy and invest in property. Something you don't need a business degree to do. Furthermore, if they need to operate a business and aren't sure what to do that is why buisness consultants exist. And you know, why they have money to pay those consultants? You really think every single business owner out there went to college? lol. College for the most part is a rip-off any way unless you need it for a practical degree. Most things today you can study online or independently.

  • The newer ones don't seem to be finishing middle school. :-)

i'm pretty sure middle school is mandatory in Korea so i don't think there are idols not finishing middle school, while high school isn't mandatory likely a lot of idols which drop out are private tutored and take the GED so they basically finish highschool and could go to college if they want

In this case of most of the idols in this post, they did finished high school, CSAT is for entering college and they have no reason or time to attend college in the middle of their career peak, they can do it later if they want.

  • If they're already earning gazillion s? What's the point unless it's what they want.

  • If a big group like BTS who are swimming in money still saw fit to finish college and continue with their masters, there must be something special about completing higher level of education. I’m still in high school so idk what the college experience feels like

Are you American for any chance? Not everywhere in the world college is demonized or will leave you with a lifelong debt.

Jessica is one big example, and most idols have side businesses like that guy from block b.. and yeah they can hire someone, but reality is different, not every one of them can have consultation and could end up get scammed.

It’s a requirement to attend college? No. But calling higher education a rip-off is honestly such a reach.

Did you see me mention anything about debt? I said it's a rip-off because most things you can study online or independently. Why pay to learn something when you can study it yourself for free unless you are the type of person that specifially needs an instuctor to guide you? Or you are specifically looking to enter a more practical field like medicine or law that requires proper schooling?

The only one reaching is you.

Anyway, I and multiple people gave you qualified answers. If you still want to continue acting obtuese and making up random scenarios where these idols are somehow going to detrimentally affect these already rich people that's on you to keep wasting your own time. Meanwhile these idols will continue living their lives and making their own choices.

You know most online sources are based off studies taken from college and people with multiple degrees? Let’s not even talk about the fact that this trend of thinking everyone can learn anything online and decide what’s actually a rip off or not is what took us to the fake news situation we have today where people think they know better than actual professionals because they saw an YouTube video.

Anyway, I’m not triggered by other people opinion, people aren’t required to go to college and I respect what others think, my problem is with you putting off higher education as if there’s no benefit going there.

  • Back in the day most idols did a college degree because it was a way to delay enlistment but since the rules have changed around enlistment that's not really something they do anymore.

Like anyone, idols should only complete a college degree if it's what they really want to do. Most idols seem to do music degrees, design degrees or business degrees so all things to help them along in their chosen careers anyway.

  • I see it unreasonable since they just realize what a waste of time it would be and they know college is a plan for those who have no idea what to do with their life.

There are members of NCT Dream that dropped out of middle school.

Overall I get why someone like Wonyoung is skipping college but Lightsum? That seems awfully optimistic.
