Is this how Kpop companies operate with their trainee system?

  • Companies recruits many trainees, the trainees begins their life living together in dorms, they get weekly or monthly evalutions, companies enforce rules like strict diet, no dating, and after a couple years, they pick those who they deem worthy to debut and the ones that don't, just being sent home?

they sign trainee contracts that are like 3 months(?) at a time, if they dont pass the tests, then the company just doesnt renew afaik

they dont all live in dorms, if there parents are in soeul they can live with them like normal, diets depends on the company, no dating is a fact, as for how they are formed, it depends on the company, big 4 have more leeway due to trainees, but they will put them in groups, and have them work together for awhile before they debut them, so determine if they even like each other enough for the 7 years, then they can rotate if needed.

also if big 4 trainee dont make it, 80% will just go to a smaller company and debut instead

  • I thought that if they were not selected for a debut, they're not forced to leave, they just choose to. But I can't really think of examples of anyone who continued to stay in the company after not being selected for a newly debuting group
