It's not fair to compare bts' melon achievements with some other well known soloists.

  • Hybe never promoted them as individuals, they weren't allowed to sponsor anything or attend any show as an individual. Its no surprise that members as soloists aren't well known among korean gp. Its unfair to compare them with soloists who've been getting solo promo since debut. Jin and jhope didn't attend music shows either. At least, Wait till they promote their music.

  • BTS fans told us for years that when they go solo they will be the biggest artists after BTS themselves, yet we've now had two debuts and not one has a hit song yet. Internationally or domestically.

If jimin doesn't get a big hit out of the gate in South Korea after years of fans proclaiming him the biggest 3rd gen idol in South Korea quoting Gallup, brand reputation etc it'll be pretty funny. Will also just confirm how much a big fandom skews those metrics.

Their new fans are literal kids, they know nothing about charts. I remember how everyone expected jimin's ost to get a pak, BR and these polls dont reflect the popularity. They're fandom driven. If you don't promote yourself, you won't get good results with music.

  • If I'm being honest I were expected paks and melon hits. Come to reality, u don't get those without promo. Even GGs who are known among GP, promote for weeks to get that achievement. Melon isn't fandom driven, you need some GP recognition. They should put more osts, to gain gp recognition if they don't intend to promote their solos. Kdramas give good exposure.

  • Whatever, they are not relevant with the gp

  • It’s become obvious to me that BH and BTS don’t care about being relevant solo artists. What can the fandom do when they don’t care about it. It’s no wonder K Army don’t support the solo works when they can’t be bothered to promote it or release it like normal.

  • another tired conversation…

That's not true though is it. Jennie and Rose had big debut numbers in South Korea. The public did not anticipate J-Hope or Jin's releases.

BTS fans were happy to talk a lot about hypothetical BTS solos destroying other kpop acts a few years back but when push comes to shove their solos are having no impact so far.

    This

  • wait for the popular BTS members to release their solo music

I was genuinely shocked seeing him not even get a top50 melon. He does have fans in korea who can keep him in 70-90 ranking in melon for months. But if you are claiming him to be the it boy of korea one would expect better results lol

I hope you understand how stupid the big fandom skewing metrics sounds cause you all for years said BTS did well on Kcharts only cause of fandom but now it is very evident in solo era that most of BTS digimon status and longevity came from gp support. The jibes that fandom kept Spring Day charting all turned out to be proven wrong cause the fandom then would also keep all solos charting indefinitely.

Kcharts need promo, BTS members as soloists have neither released the typical music genre that gp expects from BTS nor have they promoted. You expect them to do as well as BTS with zero promo?

Are you talking about Jimin who has not had a solo debut?? Tf

Jennie and Rose have practically been promoting themselves as soloists since debut, stop acting obtuse as of Bts members have been doing similar self promo for the get go.

Charts also are very different right now and promo is everything.

  • AKP anon’s hyperfixation to take MelOn’s achievement as the parameter for BTS solo success is so funny.

The popular members can get their unpromoted OSTs and singles to Top 20-ish daily MelOn. But yall just dont wanna see that.

J-Hope made an out-of-the-box, urban rap genre music that is very not public friendly, that even not all of the fandom can resonate with. But we ALL appreciate that he gets his artistry out there and all critics and music lovers truly appreciate his effort.

Jin made a temporary goodbye single solely for the fans, well-loved by the fans, but with current music climate in Korea you need promo to get high and he didnt do any music promo so far bc that’s not his purpose.

At the end of the day, no matter how loud you bark, they’re still BTS members that can do whatever the fuck they want to do and ppl will respect them anyway. Such a status that some can only dream of.

  • All of this!!!

  • Lol look at all these excuses by BTS fans to why the solos are flopping. Its embarrassing lying about not having promotion when both had promotions on worldwide stages.

  • The excuses are always "not GP friendly" or "no music show promotion" we get it, you guys don't need to keep on repeating.

but I thought yall are hyperfixating on KOREAN charts? Why suddenly lollapalooza stage and one-time overseas coldplay concert count? Promotions on music shows can trend on domestic youtube and NAVER vid, hence helping the charts.

Pick your battle losers don’t stray on a different topic. Jin currently has the best selling single album from k-soloist (without the whole intl shipping). Cry harder.
