Depends how you look at it. She has a lot of popularity in Japan thanks to her AKB days. In Korea, her popularity isn't as high. But its also thanks to kpop that her name became known worldwide.

The popularity of AKB girls has dropped like a rock in the last two years. Sakura proved once again that she made the right choice.
