But I’m kpop Talent doesn’t matter nearly as much as an aura.
Xiaoting, Hikaru, Bahiyyih and Yeseo to some extent are stan attractors.
Let’s also count in Chaehyun for her vocals.
But what do the others have going on? They’re clearly talented but it doesn’t matter if you feel nothing by watching them.
IZ*ONE had heaps of stan attractors, as the less talented members were still very pretty.
I kind of agree. Out of all the members I can only see Xiaoting having the aura to become really popular in Korea but because of her nationality that's never happening. I'm actually surprised Yeseo seems to be one of the most unpopular members. And no one really cares for Bahiyyih outside of boy group stans. If she was just another female idol with no famous sibling, she wouldn't make any noise at all. I'm not saying she's bad but she's just average at everything.

Disagree about Bahiyyih. I think she’s very charismatic
the only 3 stan attractors who have built an indiviual fanbase are Xiaoting, Hikaru & Bahiyyih
Bahiyyih might be average in everything and not everyone's taste, but she's got a fanbase, that's undeniable at this point. Which can't be said for a bunch of others. But she's also hated by a lot of fans, so her fans probably don't translate into group fans, once they find that OT8 reddit etc lol. Hikaru stans also seem like solo stans interestingly enough, don't know why though.
Chaehyun has her stans but isn't attracting new ones and the rest are mostly just there. Yeseo should be a stan attractor on paper but somehow she's not clicking with people or not translating that into a fanbase.
Dayeon is talented but she couldn't even get enough fans to vote her in with all of Mnet's help, they practically had to strongarm her into the group. She helps the group's talent pool but she's never gonna be super popular, obviously.
Youngeon is also talented but not a visual so can't be stan attractor (we all know Kpop fans are shallow af), Yujin is too old (kpop fans might moralise about debut ages but only stan fresh faces nevertheless), Mashiro only got votes bc she's from JYP, she's cute and all but she is not charismatic in the least.
Kep1er seems to be in some kind of dead end because the people who watched the show can't help but think of the group that could have been rather than the one we have, and those who didn't watch the show most likely just don't care.
Mnet cornered themselves by promoting the show with the promise of an international group which they couldn't deliver because had they done so, the group would have been most likely dead on arrival in Korea. So it seems the finale line-up, however talented is, left few people satisfied.
Then you add to this mix the great divide between Hiyyih akgaes and OT8 fans and the whole thing just becomes a mess.
What I conclude from this is, competition shows that devolve into mere popularity contests are bogus to begin with. Let professionals decide who should debut. I would 100% watch a competition show where the audience has no say in the final outcome.
I mean, yeah this is true. They may be the most disappointing survival group to have come out of Mnet. If you ask the GP who's in IOI, W1, Iz*One, X1, they can tell you the big names like Somi, Sejeong, Daniel, Jihoon, Wonyoung, etc. But honestly I doubt many can tell you who's in Kepler. Honestly, I have no idea how Chaehyun became the winner without any significant notable traits, nor does she have a big fanbase. It's strange.
Bahiyyih is a huge mistake
if only they picked ruiqi, xingqiao, shana, or wenzhe, i mean at least all of them have more personalities than some members

She's only relevant to wasian fetish stans who will turn against the group as soon as they feel like their fave is mistreated or something, which is kinda already the case to some extent. Her final ranking as #2 is what made the show look like a joke which clearly Mnet didn't need after all the rigging controversies, IZone disbandment and such.
Bahiyyih is relevant for mostly wrong reasons (even though one could argue there is no such thing).
