Some girl groups can’t get hits in SK with different concept/ style while others can?

For example Twice cant get a hit without their early cute concept/ bright sound. Itzy can’t get without their teen crush sound (dalla, now sneakers)

But other girl groups such as red velvet (red flavor, psycho, feel my rhythm ) and Blackpink (d4, lsg, pwf, aiiyl) mamamoo (yes I am, hip, starry night, delcomanie) can?

What’s the difference? Some groups can be successful changing their concept while others can’t? Which category do you think newer 4th gen girl groups like newjeans, le sserafim, Ive, aespa will fall into

The sound?

Imo, it boils down to three main factors:

1. Whether the group suits the different style of song

2. The group’s image and what music they’re associated with by the public

3. Just the song in general and if the public likes it or not

I think aespa can, they already have Dream Come True. It sounds different, and I think it's a cute hit

exactly. and mamamoo never changes their concept, they have always been girl crush.

Not people saying that BP never change their sound or image, get over it, we are in 2022 and BP had 3 different concepts in a year and while IC didn't do good, AIIYL is the living proof that they can change their concept and do good

sure rv has some flops songs but at the end of the day their songs hit even with completely different concepts. And I don’t know what to tell you if you think that d4 and how you like that aren’t completely different from songs like lovesick girls or whistle

Mamamoo actually got their pak with You’re the best, their release prior to Decalcomanie. This was after they blew up in Korea the previous year with Um oh ah yeah. Their success with yes i am, starry night or hip all came after they’d already escaped nugudom in korea

Bottom line, if you drastically change your sound, the new sound/song better be damn good and fits the vocals/persona of the members.

it's still girl crush to me but with mamamoo style. mamamoo's ballad songs never seem to do well.

mamamoo did pretty well with i miss you and rainy season , both of which are ballads. their recent ballad didn’t do well because they’re an aging gg now, not because they could never chart their ballad songs

"did pretty well" doesn't mean they're on par with their other hits. twice and itzy did pretty with the change concept too but people still called them flops.
