    1. [+550, -10] I wish all agencies would handle ticket scalpers like this. It's so common for young students to end up being scammed by nasty upcharges all because they want to go see their favorite singers. There are also people who lose a lot of money to scalpers when concerts get canceled. It's wrong that people are willing to go to such lengths for these tickets but you also have to understand just how much they must want to see their favorite singers. It'd be great if all agencies could come up with solutions like this to protect their fans from being scammed. I hope IU spreads her positive influence far and wide.

    2. [+84, -7] And this is how it should be

    3. [+48, -2] Sigh, there really are way too many scalpers these days

    4. [+42, -7] Good on IU! Good job!

    5. [+13, -1] As expected of IU, good

    6. [+9, -0] Good~~~~~~ even ticketing sites get frozen because of these scalpers

    7. [+11, -3] She's the best

    8. [+9, -2] So much better than some other agencies who only care about their profits in the end. It cuts into IU's profits to have to look out for scalpers like this, and she and her agency deserve respect for this.

    9. [+5, -2] Once you hear her live at her concerts, there's no way you don't become addicted... it's amazing how she's able to produce such a sound from her petite frame

    10. [+2, -0] People will just start making excuses... like this was a gift, I'm not able to go, something came up ㅎ there will always be a way for crime to happen ㅎ

    1. [+141] SM needs to hurry up and implement this too

    2. [+124] I bet the fans who failed to grab tickets are going to keep their eyes peeled to report scalpers so that a seat opens up for them ㅋㅋㅋ

    3. [+64] All agencies seriously need to implement this

    4. [+50] Cube, are you reading this??!

    5. [+44] I seriously wish SM and Hybe would learn from this and implement it too

    6. [+24] SM, can we please do this too

    7. [+256] Wow....... now that's a good agency

    8. [+29] SM, are you reading this

    9. [+8] JYP, are you reading this

    10. [+1] Hybe, please learn from this..

"EDAM is likely able to do this because IU does have a unique power in the industry where she doesn’t need anybody as much as they’d need her. Lesser acts are forced into participation with this sham agreement, but there are others who have similar power that should emulate her company here."

Unique power indeed, but even if other artists don't have that kind of leverage, why aren't their companies doing such things?

It could only mean that the agencies are in cahoots and see it as an avenue to make more profit.

That it reflects on the reputation of the artist, is of little concern to them.

    It is a pity.

  • Well, labels/artist usually make more money because of it as well so theres little incentive to change. Then theres the fact that even if you are a big company/artist and you try to go against it, in many places you will be frozen out from any big venues, like in USA and livenation/ticketmaster who bascially have a monopoly

IU probably is also helped by actually being in the same company that handles the tickets (melon)

    True it is not easy.

But artists are putting their reputation in risk - if they or their agency is seen as abetting such corrupt practices.

Hence at least artists with great leverage, should try to fight such monopolies/corruption, instead of going along only for profits.
