How does Chaeryeong have so much more hype and popularity than Chaeyeon when they're essentially the same person?

    Chaeryeong (ITZY) has been having her moments recently, with viral Korean tweets and a lot of engagement on social media platforms, both internationally and domestically. Meanwhile Chaeyeon (former IZ*ONE) has been unemployed for more than a year now, after IZ*ONE's disbandment and her appearance on Street Woman Fighter.


    How is the hype and popularity of the two sisters so different, despite both being essentially the same person? Both are strong dancers with unique visuals. And Chaeyeon also enjoyed similar hype as a BIG 3 company with the backing of being in a Produce group, so it's not like she's strictly in a "nugu company". What's the reason for Lee Chaeyeon being so inactive despite her sister building so much hype and popularity?

    chaeryeong is prettier than chaeyeon, she always has been. that’s essentially why jyp picked one over the other since both are good at dancing. looks like his choice paid off too. when in doubt in kpop, remember the answer is always visuals

    She’s in one of the most popular 4th gen ggs, got ps that upgraded her visuals and contrary to what Midzy try to prove that chaeryeong is mistreated by jyp, chaeryeong has the most solo appearances alongside Yeji and Lia

    Produce doesn't have the same hype big 3 has. It won't give you the same international fame. Hype in Korea? Yes, but not overseas. IVE would have to work for years to get the public's attention without produce tag, while I can't say the same for big 3 groups. Public turns to watch them instantly.

    Had Chaeryeong been in Chaeyeon shoes, she would be jobless too. Chaeyeon doesn't have the group to fall back, meanwhile itzy is the saving grace for Chaeryeong. She will be in the tough spot her sister is now when the time for solos come. Both sisters need groups to shine, solo wise they won't.

    Its not like Chaeyeon has immense or even moderate hype in Korea either. Honestly shes the only Produce member I can think of that immediately fell off within one year. At least other Wanna One members still had some hype within the first two or three years before slowly fading away. Chaeyeon's career completely fell apart almost immediately.

    This might be tough to say, but Chaeryeong is somewhat prettier than Chaeyeon.


    Additionally, that dance show didn't do Chaeyeon any good, it might even have helped to kill off some hype.

    Actually when both were in their respective groups they had the same level of popularity / support. Its only after IZONE disbanded did Chaeyeon fell off.

    Chaeryeong is in a permanent steadily growing group, so her popularity will keep increasing with the group. Her going viral was unexpected but totally helped her shoot to fame.


    Chaeyeon company did her no good in maintaining the hype after produce. She already was not among the popular members but people would have loved to support the dark horse if she was given material. Instead they completely wiped her out of everyone's memory. She needs to build herself again.

    The Chae sisters ain't conventionally pretty, but ouf ot the 2 Chaeryoung has been glowing recently and she lost a lot of weight which alogn with the very black hair remarks more her visuals, in the other hand Chaeyeon was kinda humiliated in SWF which bring her popularity a bit down and she also has more babyfat in her face which doesn't remark more her beauty
