Does BLACKPINK have a national hit?

  • National as in that had impact/influence/presence/legacy in Korea that everyone knows. Not just kids-teenagers-young adults. I mean EVERYONE including adults and old people. The examples are:

SNSD - gee (overrated af to me), genie, oh? Anyway, they have nation's gg title for a reason.

Wonder girls - Tell me, so hot, nobody. I've seen so many times how despite snsd being bigger than them, plenty of people still preferred them. Like they loved their songs so much, imagine such impact.

T-ara - roly poly, bpbp. Idk that much about them, but I know those are the HITS. I've seen comments how they were a big threat to snsd since gg came back with trash song like the boys.

Kara - mr., step. These songs and maybe others, idk a lot about them, but I know they were the 1st Korean gg to have a dome concert. They were actually popular in Japan.

2ne1 - fire, idc? Idk about them too to list hits, but they had plenty.

Twice - cheer up, tt. I also find these songs to be overrated and not catchy at all, but these songs got them Nations' new gg title. Whew.

Gfriend - Rough, I guess? Is it considered a national hit?

aespa - next level. Another overrated trash song to me, but it's a hit regardless that is still charting to this day top 30?40?

    Brave girls - rolling.

You know what I mean? Like lies, sorry sorry, mirotic, growl kind of songs?

Ofc bp are super successful group in and outside Korea, but do they have that kind of song that everyone knows? Is ddd considered a national hit? To me it sounds like a trendy song with no lasting impact. I just don't see adults 35 and over enjoying that or any of their songs in public/family gathering/festivals.

    Approved the thread.
  • u able to put TT but trying to say BP doesnt have any hit at that level

  • d4 is right there. it's a national hit no matter how much you pressed antis try to water it down.

  • Ddu du and denying that is delusional

  • DDDD is right there though?

everybody knows the dance and can recognise the song, like i'm sure you can ask any random person that doesn't live under a rock to dance and sing D4 and they'll do it. also, the song was holding the record for most PAKs for a gg for nearly 2 years and it's considered one of the anthems of the 3rd gen. if that doesn't scream a national hit to you idk what does

No BTS don't have one too

spring day? that song hasn't left the charts since 2017

If your dumb ass read for a minute before typing, you would notice I didn't put any bts song there either.

Okay, but cheer up is there anyway, so what now?

National hit is supposed to have impact and be known among all ages including older people. Do you think old people know this song?

You think it's comparable with 2nd gen hits?

its bigger national hit than any 2nd gen group hit that is not gee or roly poly so stay delusional

  • BP has more national hits than any 3rd gen girl group, including Twice with their 2/3, spread out across their career. Their longevity for their big hits is the best for girl groups, and they stay on the Melon top 1000 still to this day. Most "national hits" like Gee or Cheer Up fall out of the top 1000 entirely after 2-3 years and then only occasionally rechart.

As If It's Your Last - Only girl group song to chart on Gaon for 7 consecutive years
D4 - Biggest impacts on the melon chart and gaon chart among girl groups for a single week (Also the most impactful 3rd Gen song in a single week based on Gaon digital and Melon ULs). Also has the best Genie numbers of all girl group songs.
How You Like That - Set several records and became the only song in this decade with enough ULs to make the top 10 all-time list for girl groups.
Lovesick Girls - At the time, set a record for longevity in the top 10 of Melon and will soon take the place o Playing With Fire.
Can't remember if it was HYLT or Lovesick girls that did really well on gallup.

I probably wouldn't consider Playing With Fire a national hit, but it did do 100 weeks on Genie which is almost double it's Gaon and Melon numbers.

So it's four, maybe five if generous.

  • D4, PWF, AIIYL all above 5,5m uls, which is higher than most ggs, even in the top 5 of gg songs with more uls, these 3 sit pretty next to each other

  • interesting BP being the biggest GG of 3 gen and still "no hits" makes everyone wonder /s

yes, it is comparable. as i said, ask anyone who hasn't lived under a rock for the past 10 years to dance to dddd and they'll do it. it's actually funny how hard some of y'all are trying to downgrade bp's impact to the point of literally gaslighting yourselves :pepe-tinfoil-hat:

  • Growl and other obscure 2nd gen songs can be national hits (teehee) but not DDDD? Or HYLT? Sure Sam.
