BLACKPINK and SNSD parallel each other a lot

    SNSD and BP

    • Debuted 9 years apart, both in August by 3 days of difference and their debut stage was in Inkigayo
    • Both groups debuted with a hit song among kpop that wasn't noticed that much by the general public, INTW and Boombayah, then got their first comeback in november
    • Then the next year of their career, 2008 and 2017 they only released 1 song at all, Baby Baby and AIIYL, although SNSD released the KY mv in 2008 it was released as the 3rd single of GG
    • 2009 and 2018, they launched the biggest single of their careers in SK in an ep, Gee and DX4, then months after both released their 2nd ep Genie and KTL, both songs ended up being the 2nd biggest song of their career

    Obviously from here both groups had different amount of songs and comebacks, but that doesn't mean they didn't had parallels

    • After the release of their biggest album to date that came along with international success and under Interscope, The Boys and The album, both groups went into a quiet year, 2012 and 2021, in which the group released japanese comebacks and had members doing individual proyects, the sub unit TTS along Yuri, Sooyoung and Yoona starring in dramas and ChaeLisa solos along Jisoo drama
    • OH-RDR-Hoot were released all in 2010 with different concepts and all 3 being very succesful, HYLT-IC-LSG were released all in 2020 with different concepts and success. Along that the time release between the 1st one and the 2nd one was of 2 months, Jan-March and June-August, meanwhile the first one was an usual concept for the group, the second one is the most different from their usual selfs, then the 3rd one is inspired by an older sound, Hoot by 70s and LSG by 10s.
    • Their first soloist debut was in november by the most known member to the gp, Taeyeon and Jennie, with songs that talk about themselves as the main theme, I and Solo. Then the 2nd soloist was the foreign korean member, Tifanny and Rosé, both debuted with songs that underperformed in SK, OTG and IJWD. The third soloist? the maknae with a song that didn't do well in sk but did good in physicals.

    That was an interesting read. Do you think this also applies to other groups too? I would think some groups would overlapped with one another, coincidence or not. Maybe there's a trend being played or tactic.


    Would love to see other comparisons, just for fun. What we all should know and understand, every group wants to be popular, wants to make music, some lucky and some not. They seems to have the same goal.

    No they don't lol. You can cherrypick a lot of these "similarities" for a lot of groups. Not at blinks trying to compare SNSD and BP.

    I think this one is the most close in terms of career track, other seems more difficult, Twice and 2ne1 could be one, cause I think they went from having 3 years of back to back hits to decrease their performance in different metrics, while Twice decreased digitally but increased physically, 2ne1 decreased physically and maintained their digitals. 2009-2011 2ne1 was on fire similarly to 2015-2018 twice, then it was a shift in 2012/2019, and also was the slowdown of comebacks.

    Also their first official soloist debuts were the lead vocalist with a song that could have been released by their groups, The baddest female and Pop were definitely songs that sounded like 2ne1 and Twice, unlike other soloists who goes more by a self sound, like Taeyeon with I or Jennie with Solo.

    And both group debuts were a very big hit that compared to their rivals did ended up being bigger, Fire was bigger at that point than ITNW and LOA did better domestically than Whistle/Boombayah, then their second comeback ended up being their biggest staple of their careers Cheer up and I don't care.

    So what I got from all that drivel was that they are both female kpop groups. That's where the parallels start and ends.

    A lot of people says these are applicable to other ggs too, yet I don't see mentions of them. Twice parallels with SNSD is the 9 member and the cute concept only, but any other? RV, both debuted in august, but no other parallel, except maybe main vocal being the first solo debut? Mamamoo, not even any parallel. Gfriend, nope.

    This is clearly a delusional sm stan, we blinks do not like bp to be compared and none of those stupid comparison makes sense, bp are also miles ahead compared to any kpop gg
