First, we have to understand the political impact of KPOP. That was heavily discussed in 2020 once BTS and BP managed to surpass multiple worldwide records. The reason why aespa was formed was that people wanted a political impact on the KPOP community.
The concept of aespa is living in the virtual world while having their AI counterparts. Have you ever thought about why the girls look like they do not enjoy performing in real life? Because they want to live in the virtual world where everything is better. They try to sell the idea living in the virtual world is better than living in real life.
What does this have to do about political impact? Well you know 2021 was one of the biggest years for crypto/NFT and metaverse. Metaverse is heavily connected to virtual reality which is the concept of aespa. Crypto and NFT:s are widely hated, but maybe aespa can change that. Whose would be a better audience than KPOP fans that spend most of their time on the internet? aespa can make metaverse more acceptable to KPOP fans and adapt that new technology. Most KPOP fans are young and more open to this kind of idealogy. In the future KPOP fans are more likely to buy NFT:s than KPOP albums, but KPOP stans still need more warm-up for that which is eventually happening or that is what people believe.
About their album sales, it is pretty clear bitcoin whales donated that money to them to promote their business. Just before their comeback, the girls were talking about virtual reality (you can find that thread from dumpster fires). Coincidence?
