how much does body structure matter in dancing to you?

  • im not a dancer by any means so i cant say if it actually has an effect to how professionals judge it, but as a consumer i can definitely see certain physiques making the same movement look 10x more attractive simply by existing

and it makes sense of course

dance is a visual artform and the longer straighter smoother the lines and angles, it is bound to look more attractive

but does anyone feel the same?

in sports for example, im no pro but i like playing many sports and can say this for sure, body type influences everything so much

  • yes, it matters alot.

There's a reason ballet dancers etc have a certain body type.

  • as you said its personal preference people generally like looking at things they find attractive which generally mean slim and fit. You should check out big ballet I use to think it was simply because you needed to be a certain type of fit to successfully do ballet moves but realized most ballerinas are slim because thats more appealing to the eye.

  • It definitely matters. Tall idols have it rough because the choreography is not made to suit their bodies so they have to compensate by being faster with their movements simply due to the fact that having longer limbs means it takes longer to extend those limbs. It can often make them look sloppy or awkward. The better proportioned you are, the better it's going to look.
