Why are LOONA and Kep1er still not able to have any success in SK?

  • Both songs already out of top 200 genie and not charting anywhere else.... (not mentioning bugs since it's highly manipulated by intl- fans)

I know it's early but what happened to the Queendom hype like gidle had? I maybe expected too much.

Esp with LOONA I thought this was going to be their big break in SK. :( (could still be)

Good to know both groups are selling decently atleast.

    Approved the thread.
  • bad songs. some groups just don't have what it takes to make it...

  • Not as many people were watching queendom this time around.

Though, from what I heard Loona trended a bit and had some songs chart a little during queendom, so maybe it's fair to expect more? (correct me if I'm wrong)

  • Combination of bad songs and lack of star power in members that GP are able to latch onto. If we're comparing Kep1er to its Produce predecessors, IOI had huge star power in Sejeong, Yoojung, Chaeyeon and Somi etc. that led their success even if their songs were mediocre at the start (until Veryx3 and Downpour). Iz*One had better songs and some star power that carried them and built their fanbase, until their other members were also made known to the public.

Kep1er has neither and didn't exactly have special moments like Oh My Girl did in Queendom 1.

I definitely thought LOONA would gain some steam cos their performances were a lot better, and they do have a recognisable member in Chuu. But maybe the public just don't find them especially interested, or maybe too many "filler" members.

  • I think people over estimate the impact Queendom is supposed to have. If you go back to Season 1, only (g)i-dle had an immediate burst of popularity, and that's because they delivered the most iconic stages and finale song.

OMG too had their best comeback after Queendom but it's unclear how their participation factored in Nonstop's and Dolphin's success considering the album released half a year after the show ended.

  • I actually think the song is much better than expected, so I would actually put the blame on the member composition of the group. Kep1er fans won't want to hear it but Kep1er is a perfect example of what happens when a survival show priorities trainees with talent over visuals and charm. Now the group is talented but lacks any sort of charm not to mention cohesiveness. Even so, Mnet shoulders a lot of that blame too because from the start of the show they pushed the trainees with the least visuals and charms, and all the visuals who would have probably been caught fire were eliminated.
