The fact that people adore Minnie‘s voice is astounding to me

As it is not to my liking at all. Too nasal to be enjoyable, in my eyes.

What I, however, find even more astonishing is that people believe she is a genuinely good vocalist.

I remember how many did not understand how she dodged the highnote in lion. To me, it was clear from the beginning that she was simply not capable of singing it life.

The love for her voice is something that will forever mystify me.

personally, i adore minnie's voice and the tone you're describing is purposeful and brings a really unique flavor to all of gidle's songs. however, if you wanted to see her sing without it, maybe check out some of her covers, for example:

Frankly, I don't care if she is a "good" vocalist. I have no clue what "good" vocals are anyways. If you happen to know more than me, I get why you might not like her voice all that much.

But for me, her voice sounds pleasant and that's what matters when I listen to a song. Whether or not you like her vocal color is a very subjective thing. I also used to dislike her voice, but the I Burn album really made me change my mind. :)

Love her voice. Minnie goes nasally when she decides to. And fact is, in an ocean of nasally voices in idol music, she has the best one in the biz.

Out of all the things in the world, or in kpop specifically, that is what's outstanding and mystifying to you? Alright then. I guess Lee Mujin has poor taste too and cannot recognize a bad singer. Because obviously, good vocals is ONLY about high notes, support, belting or whatever. IT'S THE ONLY THING THAT MATTERS, RIGHT? RIGHT???

Are you an SM stan? Seems like something SM stans would say lol. Anw I love her vocal color just like Rose’s so I have no complaints! I’m not a music or voice major so am not particular about “good technique” whatsoever. And so are the majority of kpop fans and GP that’s why people like her voice.

If you expect fancy technique stuff, kpop and pop music isn't for you. So maybe find another type of music to listen to.

Minnie's voice is actually pretty cool, as it is district which is rare in kpop overall as most songs ahve always emphasized group cohesion over individuality in terms of vocal sound.

And people really prefer her voice over miyeon? Even soyeon always give more part to her rather miyeon when miyeon objectively better. Btw i like yuqi’s voice the most in the group

I'm an SM stan and I think she sounds amazing. I was blown away by her parts in their debut, super addictive. And no, I have zero vocal knowledge and couldn't care less about technical skill either.

Whole of Korea rave about her voice. She's got one of the most captivating opening voices and that's why Soyeon uses her like that.

Miyeon has a strong voice, which definitely works effectively in a one-two punch with Yuqi. I do agree somewhat that Miyeon is underused in Idle's songs, but when you have such a rich vocal tapestry like in Idle you really are spoilt for choice.

She has a pretty voice but what makes me astounded is people thinking g-idle have vocalists as good as aespa.
