Sungchan was born in Seoul, South Korea on Sept. 13, 2001. He was cast on the street twice by SM scout, however, he felt his skills were lacking the first time. After training at a dance academy, he was scouted again and decided to try the audition in 2016. In November, he appeared in a new reality series with Shotaro, Doyoung and Jungwoo of NCT 127 and Jeno of NCT Dream that introduces the SM Rookies members to NCT. The series, Welcome to NCT Universe, featured all the NCT sub-units.
