Of course wsoet is the one to make things easier for all of us.

    Thank you!

No, they didn't. BP released 1 song in 2017 and YHS said "even I don't know what happened that BP just released 1 song this year".

They are just incompetent. If since debut yge gave them at least a mini album each year with full promotions then ok, but they had their first mini in 2018 (2 years after debut) and the first "full album" in 2020 (4 years after debut) and in those 7 years they had 2 minis with 4 song each and 2 full albums with 8 songs each. Does it make sense?

The moment they started publicly complaining about the lack of songs it's the moment you know the company didn't do their work properly.

Was this helpful for fans? I'm sure to say you are the minority like 1% of blinks that thinks yge did a good job with BP bc not even BP thinks so :meme-life-support:

Maybe incompetence that turned into… effective laziness because it helped new fans become attached to the group.

I know. I dislike the lack of music, too. But apparently, the silver lining was that a lot of people found it easy to end up calling themselves BLINKS and VIPs, including myself.

As a huge fan now, I of course want more music, but I really don’t know if I’d be into them today if they had a large discography to keep up with like these SM and JYP groups do.

We'll see if you still feel this way by the time 2025 ends. ;judgingpepe:

YGE doesn’t need to rely on the exclusivity strategy for BABYMONSTER.

BABYMONSTER’s promotional and release strategy is much more traditional because they’re the prioritizing Korean market this time around.

As for the Western market, the bubble already burst. BLACKPINK already served as the gateway into YGE’s style and music. There’s no need to “play it safe” with a limited discography to match the pace of Western newbies anymore.

Do you understand how excruciatingly exhausting it is for a newbie to figure out how K-pop works?

When I first tried to get into K-pop, I was interested and open-minded enough to learn, but I still had a tough time figuring out what in the world SUPERJUNIOR-M, SUPERJUNIOR-K, and TaeTiSeo were.

And what’s the difference between 2PM and 2AM? Are these two different groups or what?

And these album repackages? Is this a new album? Why is it marketed as a new album when it’s the same as the last with the exception of two new songs?

    :cryingr:

Aside from my interest in 2NE1, I couldn’t stan girl groups for the longest time because all the comebacks, Japanese releases, special editions, solo albums, and subunit projects confused the heck out of me.

And you expect me to learn their whole discography, lore, and history just to feel like a true fan?

It’s like these animes with 5 seasons and 70 episodes for each season. Nah, I’m too far behind to feel like I’m part of the fandom.

Then came BLACKPINK. PHEW. What a relief. I couldn’t finally keep up because these girls only released two songs at a time. It was clear what their concept was and what they were aiming for. They only had four members.

Easy. I could get through this in one day. I’m a certified BLINK.

YGE likely knew and understood this, so they tried to keep things simple and limited to give new fans a chance.

Maybe OCD. (I can say this because I actually have OCD.) They might believe in wanting something to precisely and perfectly fit their vision before they release it.

Maybe superstition. Just look at how GD waits for something to be related to the number 8 before he releases music. That company might be superstitious as heck, which may have rubbed off on him.

Anyways I think things are changing. Look at how many MVs and performance videos BABYMONSTER got just for one album. It’s actually ridiculous to keep up with. Tru-Multistan and kwonjiyong92 can vouch for me on this.

Saw a Tiktok video the other day taken from a line outside of a Kiss of Life concert where the woman/girl taking the video was filming almost every male she saw, with a judgy, pissy comment about "why are males going to a Kiss of life concert?"

Comments were equal part nasty gronks agreeing with her and people rightfully dragging her.

I didn't want to specify this because, honestly, I'm tired of this gender war among K-pop fans.

But I'm glad you brought it up.

It's getting weird with how fans try so hard to claim they're better than other fans, pleading for validation online. Nowadays X and TikTok are the easiest ways to get that quick sense of validation because like-minded degenerates congregate there.

Imagine if the roles were versed and a male fan recorded almost every female fan he saw and posted the video with a condescending caption.

I just saw your other thread, so now I get what you're referencing.

For fan behavior, the most noticeable thing is that audience members these days seem much more judgmental. They go on X or TikTok just to complain about how others weren't being loud enough, dancing enough, etc.

I think it's ridiculous of them to judge. As long as people aren't being disrespectful, they should be able to do what they want without being judged for it.

Not everyone wants to be loud, and that's perfectly fine. Not everyone wants to act like they're the main character.

    This is very interesting.

I noticed concertgoers these days tend to be way more judgmental of each other. There's this whole phenomenon of people going on social media to complain about how other concertgoers weren't loud enough, dancing enough, etc.

I'd say to just let people do whatever they want as long as they're not disrespecting others.

These days, some people try way too hard to be a main character at concerts while looking down on people who just want to vibe.

I think a lot of people missed these eras of GD, so they don't understand why he's such an inspiration to so many people.

A song about morality, what's right and what's wrong. A reference to The Divine Comedy, an Italian narrative poem by Dante Alighieri. I love the rap flow he uses here.
