I'll reiterate what I said in another thread. 2018 was loaded.

    2018:

    Red Velvet "Bad Boy"

    BLACKPINK "DDU-DU DDU-DU"

    BTS (with everything)

WINNER "EVERYDAY" (and the continuation of their "Really Really" success)

    iKON "Love Scenario"

    Pentagon "Shine"

MAMAMOO "Starry Night" (and they were very active as a group this year)

EXO "Love Shot" and their whole Don't Mess Up My Tempo era

Chungha and Sunmi being the standard for soloists

Produce 48 and beginning of IZ*ONE (didn't follow either, but I remember the talk about them and liked "Rumor" from Produce 48)

    Momoland "BBoom BBoom" and "BAAM"

Seulgi, Chungha, SinB, and Soyeon collaborated for "Wow Thing"

    (G)I-DLE's debut with "LATATA"

Trust me. I liked him as a person. I really try to get to know users for who they are instead of just their forum persona because people are way more complex than how they portray themselves on here.

I joined this forum to make friends with other K-pop fans, and as much as it pains me to say this place isn't what I thought it was, I still make the effort to get to know people. I understand not everyone genuinely cares about each other on here. I dislike how that's the default. I won't be able to change that, but there's a part of me that's emotionally attached to this place, likely due to nostalgia.

You can't help people who don't want to be helped, and as much as I wish the best for him, his approach just wasn't good for him or others.

AKP shouldn't be a place for bored, attention-seeking people to come to, desperate to get a reaction out of people.

I know the higher-ups won't like it when I say I don't care about generating activity and traffic just for the sake of boosting activity and traffic. The cheapest and laziest way to do that was to generate negativity instead of prioritizing real, constructive discussion. That's been the norm for way too long, and it sadly manifested itself in the very culture of AKP.

    Pretty much this!

But I can confident say top5 year for me!

MADE alone is pure perfection and bts, exo 2015 were also amazing!

Top 3 for me would have to be 2012, 2015, and 2018.

2012: T-ARA "Day by Day," BIGBANG's Alive album/era (my favorite along with MADE), "Gangnam Style"

2015: BIGBANG's MADE, EXO's releases, most likely a few others I don't remember at the moment

    2018:

    Red Velvet "Bad Boy"

    BLACKPINK "DDU-DU DDU-DU"

MAMAMOO "Starry Night" (and they were very active as a group this year)

EXO "Love Shot" and their whole Don't Mess Up My Tempo era

Chungha and Sunmi being the standard for soloists

Produce 48 and beginning of IZ*ONE (didn't follow either, but I remember the talk about them and liked "Rumor" from Produce 48)

    2018 was loaded.

chill? boring you mean  .

thebadguy is dearly missed :pleading: and i also personally wished he could show more restrain towards the mods :meme-picard-facepalm:.

i wish there was a way to solve this issue :pepe-sad:.

A dopamine detox might be what you're looking for if you think drama is the solution to being bored.

It's ironic. This is a forum about K-pop, something that's meant to entertain. K-pop is meant to spark numerous discussions about the entertainment aspects of this genre.

Yet we're finding ourselves bored? There's a problem going on here.

I joined AKP in 2018 hoping for wholesomeness and connection with other K-pop fans. It wasn't until later, when I got more involved, that I began to realize how negativity and hate are the default setting for this place. There's something very wrong with that.

The taglist misuse was a no from me. I can't subject people to being tagged in the context of stirring up drama.

A lot of people see this NJZ vs. HYBE/ADOR situation as a game, and I understand that he, from his POV, was just having fun. However, not everyone is interested in treating it that way and not everyone cares about the issue.

I also understand that a lot of users deal with stuff in their personal lives and mainly use AKP as an outlet to project negativity. However, if everyone is doing that, this place would be full of unbearable misery, worse than it already is at times. You guys don't even care to talk about actual K-pop, only armchair wannabe corporate stuff.

Am I the only one who doesn't place that much importance on a debut?

K-pop is the only genre where people think a highly successful debut is a must. I understand the reasoning because K-pop is fast-paced, but I don't think it's the be-all and end-all.

In other genres, it's almost expected an artist's debut won't make much noise unless they've made their name elsewhere before. Rihanna, Ariana Grande, and Taylor Swift didn't immediately become the artists they are today. Their music took years to evolve before they reached this level.

MEOVV said they're working on an album. I'm going to patiently wait and trust the process. They're not aiming for what's trendy in K-pop right now. They're sticking with a sound that fits and showcases their voices. It won't be for everyone, but the most successful songs out there right now also aren't for everyone.

I know you're responding to selfmate but I want to talk about the last few questions you asked.

Rather than "keeping a distance from K-pop," maybe it's that she's trying to appeal to a global or Western fanbase? It's the same as what Jungkook did. His solo album is more Western pop than K-pop.

I don't think this necessarily means Lisa hates K-pop industry or YGE. Only she can answer that, but we just don't know and I don't think there's anything concrete that suggests she dislikes it. We can only speculate.

Thanks for referencing what I said.

I like both you and ThePhantomThief , though. Not sure what he means, but I hope he realizes there are good Armys around and some are also multistans.

NO. Not this shit again. Back then, I remember people saying Blackpink must be contented with sparse music releases, they still had gigs and never complaint.

Look what's happening after the exclusive contract ended.

It doesn’t mean they weren’t content. It might just mean they know they have to work harder now that they’re on their own.

If they were that unhappy, they wouldn’t stick with YGE for group activities.

You know when I think the reddit kpop bar couldn't be lowered you get this

They don't consider nuance. They already had their minds made up, so anything Hanni does will be spun into the worst possible conclusion.

She laughed because the camera shutters were going off wildly when the press noticed she was crying. She explained it here:

As for the recent incident with her laughing as she got out of court, it was a response to something a man said. If you look closely, you can see this.

It’s actually been difficult for me to keep up with MEOVV’s content because they’ve been doing a whole lot. Variety show appearances, fashion events, and their own YouTube content…

So the content and promoting are out there. They just have a very niche appeal at the moment, and it doesn’t help that a lot of K-pop fans are more invested in NewJeans and anything associated with them.

Maybe MEOVV should have pretended to copy NewJeans for a teaser or two, bait people into talking, and then switch things up for their actual music and MV.
