The existence of Edam Entertainment will prevent that

IU is indeed incredible, but don't forget Taeyeon. She's also a 2nd generation survivor.

And she will remain to many more generations to come
That is likely, which is what I intend to write after listening to her new song on Wednesday.

Lee Jieun showed she is the last standing of the 2nd generation.
I mean, Lee Jieun fought the giants of Kpop from 2010, and for 11 years which is like an eternity in KPop, all these acts wanted Lee Jieun out of action because she was the only one not following the rules of KPop,
but , as the only soloist of note (others were famous for some time but only Lee Jieun has held on for 11 years), she has always had some following from K-O-R-E-A.
Her biggest crisis was on 2012, when her most famous photo was revealed, and Ailee did take IU's place, but AKP did contribute a lot to IU's return to grace because it was here where Ailee's former pics, which was kinda naughty, were revealed. So Ailee descended to the same level as Lee Jieun, who returned back to contention on Jan 2014, when she defeated the mighty EXO on the first week
(The video where Jang Yijeong, later El Capitxn (a Big Hit producer), gets to shame EXO has been taken down.)
Even the mighty BTS has been unsuccessful defeating Lee Jieun, and this occurred last year

Lee Jieun's extraordinary survival for all these years raises a philosophical question; even the Emperor of the world canNOT put a local ruler to rest, because the local ruler has a very, very hardcore support in her turf.
I will ponder this question again when her new song is released, but it is quite ironical that she became the last standing 2nd Generation Singer when she was technically NOT part of it.

Album sales? They are nowhere near 3rd gen groups.
Streaming? 404 error, page not found.
Youtube views? lmao
Worldwide recognition?
Maybe digital sales?
And yet 2nd gen fans think they paved the way? lmao
There is still one 2nd gen person who does well in streaming, although she is NOT a KPopper.
-
It is probably Tiff, who probably overestimated her popularity
Thanks to Tiff instigating strife in SNSD, a certain soloist gained the most
-
Do NOT forget that the 2nd gen is NOT over yet, as KPop's Senior SInger is still around.

I don't like it. I don't know why but it doesn't click with me

Yongtak - Pathetic.

IU is KPop's Senior Singer, the hidden power and the singer even the most successful acts have to fear.
Until now, virtually all of her songs were composed by Korean composers.
She had a b side song written by Corrine Bailey Rae, whom she used to follow long time ago, on Last Fantasy (2011) but otherwise EVERY SINGLE ONE OF HER NUMEROUS DIGITAL #1s WAS WRITTEN BY KOREAN COMPOSERS.
She was the final holdout of not using foreign composers in any of her titles. I did not keep track of her b-side songs, but every single title she ever sang, including OSTs, was written by Korean composers with no foreign hands. (Into the I-Land is the product of Hitman Bang and quite a few composers, including some foreigners, but it was beyond her control to choose the producers.)
But now

Lauritz Christiansen of June
Jeppe London of June
Celine Svanback of June
Chloe Latimer (KHLOË)Other than Ryan Jhun, who could be called a Korean, the other four composers are foreigners.
They are the same people who wrote OhMyGirl's Dolphin, so Lee Jieun's new release will be probably similar to that.
That basically means people like Kim Jehwi, a composer working for Lee Jieun, are now jobless.
This move signifies that Korean composers are done. When the last holdout gives up, the game has ended.
