I love clocking toxic people, because I am capable of an even deeper level of toxicity, and I'm just flat out smarter than most of the malcontents who engage in that behavior anyway.
Yes Yama you are basically the toxic gg stan final boss. Whether you want to take that as an insult or compliment is up to you.
It's unavoidable but not entirely. Nowadays, most people just hate simply because they can.
But then again: if your faves aren't being hated on, then they clearly aren't doing something right.
I would say it's avoidable but not entirely, as in I think it's possible to tune a majority of it out. But it's always going to be unavoidable to some degree if you are engaging with the wider kpop community at all. As a wise man once said: "Haters gonna hate".
I kinda lost interest in kpop a bit after BPs comeback in 2022. I didn't really follow kpop much in 2023 other than comebacks of the groups I like but even then I wasn't like staying up til 12am anticipating the comebacks. Really the most engagement I had was music and talking with my friend about NJs and LSF because he got really into them. Also the 5050 drama. Then BM pre-debuted (Batter Up is a pre-debut song, facts), and even though I didn't like Batter Up much, I started to get very interested in them and watched the Last Evaluation. And this year has definitely been the most I've engaged with the kpop community as a whole. Now I have 1.6k posts on an obscure kpop forum.
How do you feel when you hear this statement? Do you agree? Disagree? Obviously it is up to the person whether or not they choose to engage with someone who is saying hateful things. But do you think it's easy or even possible to avoid seeing hateful/toxic things said against your faves?

I care!! I watched it when it was streaming on Amazon prime. I thought I missed it and caught it at Go Hard.
They did really good. I missed seeing them perform as 9 together. Also I missed seeing a lot of the old choreography in the OG way.
I loved them making the effort to speak in English the whole time. Jungyeon was KILLING me while doing this lmao.
And that Talk to Talk version is just the perfect way to end their sets. I'm glad they came out with that song.
ETA: I think a lot of ppl cared also!! I don'thow true it is, but I saw a tweet that said streams for the concert might've peaked higher than streams for the Mama awards

I'm just kidding with the title! But even though AKP isn't super big, I was surprised to not see anyone post about it. I actually thought they were going to just perform a few songs, I didn't realize it was going to be a small concert.
I also really loved the Talk To Talk version they end with as well, overall a great performance from them. Dahyun speaking english is my favorite, she is hilarious. Idk about the totals streams and I wasn't looking the whole time, but the highest I remember seeing was ~80k on Twitch.

It's definitely a video in favor of MHJ, but it at least acknowledges and tries to counter most of the arguments I've seen from the anti-MHJ/pro-HYBE crowd. Credit to Yama-Chan for posting it.
Personally I think it's still hard to choose 1 side. To me it seems like the 2 extreme sides are:
People in support of HYBE and against NewJeans or MHJ or both. This crowd believes MHJ is just a crazy jealous woman and her motivations are completely self serving. She is manipulating the NJs members and parents into doing her bidding. She started this whole thing and then dragged other groups into it, who have suffered greatly. Started mass fanwars. All for her own selfish reasons. And she just keeps continuing on and on trying to win injunctions/lawsuits she has no chance of ever winning. I think the fact that she's been viewed as a problematic figure even before this does not help. There's also the even more extreme that are trashing NJs and calling them spoiled brats.
People who support MHJ and Newjeans. My simplistic view is that they just see MHJ as a hard working innovator going up against the big evil corporation HYBE because she dared to challenge their conveyor belt style kpop production by filing an internal complaint about Illit. She dared to view and treat her artists like people, instead of a product, which is how HYBE views it. And this could've remained an internal issue, but it was HYBE who brought it to the forefront under the guise of an audit into MHJ that should've never happened. It was HYBE who forced MHJ's hand in publicly mentioning other groups. And then we all know the craziness that followed.
There's just so much too it like not even bringing up SA case, leaked texts, leaked videos of trainees, utlimatums, etc. So much craziness!!! But thats my simplistic interpretation of what I see.
Well, I have my idea of what a parasocial relationship is, but let's consult google: A parasocial relationship is a one-sided emotional connection that a person develops with a media figure they don't know in real life
I would say going by that definition, most of us here are in a parasocial relationship with the groups we follow. I suppose it's all about how far youtake it because at a point it does become an unhealthy obsession. As long as you have a good amount of self awareness, there's nothing wrong with parasocial relationships I guess. Like I know I'll never actually get to marry Jennie or Karina, but one can hope.
Ah okay. Very cool to see "Maniac" popped off despite releasing in early November 2023. Didn't like "Event Horizon" so much.
I forgot I pulled this data in the beginning of September, so 2024 is off smh. Really the only difference is APT at #5 and sadly poor VIVIZ was pushed out of the top 10.

Is this YTM or just vanilla YT (or a combination)?
The weekly song chart combines YTM + Official MV + Unofficial videos with the song, this would be stuff like Lyrics videos and Reactions videos (assuming they credit the song, you'd see in the videos description section). Which I actually like because I think those things should count towards a view. From what I can see, music shows and such don't seem to credit the song, so I don't think they are included.
