Aespa. They caught my attention with Spicy. I tried to listen to their older stuff just to see if I actually could enjoy it now and nope. Not my thing at all.

Aren't they doing similar numbers? If we take out the ad views they seem almost equal to me for YouTube at least.

I've ended up on some dodgy forums and boys are definitely too embarrassed to follow kpop. Even when talking about female idols it's never about the music but their bodies and faces. Since they don't want to sexualise men they can't follow boy groups.

I feel like the groups are talented but they haven't given me any music I want to listen to other then kiss of life. I really enjoy the direction those girls are going. The rest, no.

I'm talking about kpop groups that are topping Korean charts. Somebody in Korea has to be listening to them if they're picking up PAKs and RAKs.

I used to think music was a factor but after seeing half of Korea singing "my boob and booty hot" I don't think so. Korea will absolutely go for weird music if they like the group.

I have seen extreme vitrol to kbs. Like flat out mocking the white faces and calling all idols plastic. Asian beauty products are gaining popularity for sure but idol beauty, no.

Let's be real. How many articles are about Aespa's visuals and how many for their talent?

SM was smarter then jyp to keep pushing Karina's visuals over and over because eventually the whole AI visual thing gets drilled in everyone's head. JYP wants to push the group together Vs one girl and that's where he went wrong. He had the talented visuals but not the PR to push them.

I'm going to wait a year before I say that.
