i’ve done a little digging and it looks like starship jumped on the 1thek bandwagon around early 2020 bc izone also went on 1thek at the time for fiesta, but the thing is izone jumped ship right away their next release to studio choom for secret story of the swan lol, while starship stuck it out for 3 years until 2023 (at least for their ggs), which is why we’ve never seen wjsn appear on studio choom before and ive can only go there starting now. better late than never i guess

i think this attitude is unfortunately very rampant amongst idols, bc they were brought up in a relatively conservative country, yet one of the most lucrative means for an idol to make a profit is through gay fanservice (bc co-ed groups aren’t a thing), so it creates this unique mix of homophobia + homoerotic fanservice which will inevitably lead to the mindset you described. hell, suju’s siwon was very active at engaging in fanservice with his groupmate during suju’s heyday, but later on he also straight up expressed homophobic beliefs in his own words under the excuse of his religion. we’re just living in blissful ignorance of how conservative most idols are bc they at least have the wits to shut their mouth and not expose their bigotry lol

We already have that - it’s called the show and show champion. It’s good to have a variety of different music shows with different criteria like this, instead of every single one of them doing the exact same thing, which would be boring and unfair in a way. If certain shows want to celebrate all songs released, not just ones that the artists actively promote, they should be well within their rights to do it, and the artists also won’t miss out on their songs winning some awards. If for some reason they couldn’t promote their song (for eg an emergency medical reason) then wouldn’t it be entirely unfair to exclude them from winning?
