In the grand scheme of things they dont matter, look at all the idols when they get their first award versus when they get their 20th, they stop caring about them little by little.
But for younger groups, especially rookies, they're very important. Wonyoung rarely cries, like it's really rare, and she was the first one to cry at MAMA. They grind themselves into dust to earn them, the work hours and schedules of almost every idol group are insane.
So if idols care that much, most of their fans will care too since they care about their artists' wellbeing.

blinks don't seem to care about korean awards because Blackpink don't even attend them. But they cared about VMAs because BP did.
