Tell me about it, almost all modern pop seems like little 3 minute ads for the act's "branding". There was a time, oh about 3-4 decades ago, when musicians didnt hesitate to write literal rock operas sometimes, epic songs like Bat Out of Hell, Born to Run, and November Rain.
With Kpop specifically, i think their songs have to be limited since they're expected to do choreo for the entire song.
I think the length time is to bow to radio who want to move things along play more tracks.
As for Everglow incredible comeback song has so much power, MV is off the charts they don't hold back on the look at all

It's a banger through and through. Give this to an established group, they'd turn it into gold.
As ever in K-Pop the quality often doesn't matter for shit if it's a small company

Listening to it again it could well be my favourite

First time I've heard these. I Don't Miss U is pretty good.
I think Rocket Punch still counted as rookies when this was released:

Twice should slam back into a cute concept and surprise everyone
-
It's crazy to think that The Album had double the sales of say More and More by Twice what a massive turnaround.
-
That's a fair point the minimalist nature is unexpected and original in itself!

I got pretty emotional after watching the documentaries. They know they receive a lot of hate but they know it's not from Forevers but Antis. They're always cheerful, enthusiastic, and happy despite all the hate their getting - talk about warriors. They know their hard work has gained them more fans and although there aren't that many forevers, forevers are very loyal. If you ever follow the Vlives, more and more people are participating in it, and it gives them motivation. Basically, whenever they see progress, such as increased album sales, Spotify streams, etc. it'll give them motivation.
I think I'll buy something an album if I can find it or some stuff off I-Tunes, I'm getting Momoland vibes off them now, hate for daring to be successful from a small company

Great song and bassline, however I always thought it was too sparse and would have been amazing with more complexity and instruments. That pre-chorus @ 0:40 is legendary in my opinion sad so few have probably heard it

I had to drive on-site...
Here is my take...I do think Everglow being under a Chinese Label affects them but it doesn't cover the entire story.
Imagine a Nugu group from a "Nugu" (Large and very well-known Chinese company but in the KPOP world, not really) company all of a sudden gets tens or hundreds of millions of views on Youtube. From the beginning, people accused Everglow of view botting and running ads to inflate views and accusing Everglow of copying Blackpink's concept. Then Adios and Dun Dun came out, many accused Everglow of poor line distribution and plagiarism. After that, you also had the culture-sensitive scandal where Sihyeon referred to braided bracelets as reggae hair... I mean... I can keep going.I can tell you, these are not by-products of anti-Chinese sentiment, these are by-products of jealously. However, people have been using their Chinese Labels as the reason because of all the Chinese stereotypes, It's easier to sell to the general public.
Here's my basis on why I don't believe it's their label being Chinese. Under the same label... Woodz, Yena, and Lee DoHyun, all very successful (to give you some context if you don't know them, Woodz sold well over 300k albums this past year, Lee DoHyun is a rising actor, winning 3 New Best Actor awards, and Yena, I mean, who doesn't know her) do not experience the same amount of hate Everglow gets. Just look at the Melon comments, you see 25% positive comments, and the rest are just some Koreans shit talking... Woodz doesn't have that... If you read some of the Naver articles, Everglow gets so many hate comments... Lee DoHyun and Yena don't get that...
You have no idea, I'm getting mad just typing this. Do those Koreans not have anything better to do than shit talk? No wonder why Korea's suicide rate is so high because those fuckers do nothing but judge people.
Long story short, that's my take. I can go more in-depth, but I need to get back to work.
Great post thanks for the information, the background on Yuehua's other artists and the hate for Everglow. I've been watching the new Everglow interviews and I noticed they all look pretty down I had no idea they were going through this so now I understand. It's so sad after things like Sulli it just carries on and on.....

Where BBC flopped wasn't investment, but tracking what the hell was done with it. I mean the Loona team were going round the world to film shit before debut, imagine the cost of it all no wonder it all racked up into millions.
This was filmed in Iceland lolll
