Um already said over sexualizing minors is the same for me if you bothered to read my response.

Number 1, I did read your post, all of them actually. Number 2, in all your posts, from what I've gathered, you're implying that, because of the history of the cute concept, idols should stop doing them. Regardless of the fact that they might be uncomfortable doing anything else. Then by your logic, because the idea and stereotype of the "angry black women" has a dark history and has been and is still used to oppress black women. I, as a black girl, shouldn't express that emotion too much or write a character that expresses that emotion too much because I'm perpetuating a stereotype with a dark history.

Also, this is my last response. I'm not going to continue arguing with someone who I clearly disagree with.

Tbh I’m not really talking about ageyo I don’t really watch much off screen videos and exo barely have any offline content.

I was talking about loli type visuals in videos and performances it’s more so in GGs than BGs.

How ppl treat aegyo from GGs and BGs maybe different but I haven’t really looked deeply into it. I avoid it like the plague eye-

Winks, pouts, and smiles are not "loli" like visuals. And also, stop acting like most of the people who do this concept arent children themselves. As someone who is the age of most of the idols doing these concepts, when I dance or lipsync to these songs by myself. I try to incorporate these expressions because I have fun. Because they make me feel happy and comfortable.

Also, do you even watch any cute content. It seems like you don't. If you did you would know that adults "acting like children" is dead in a ditch and the over-sexualization of minors in kpop is more prevalent with the rise of girl crush. So stop speaking about something you clearly don't know anything about. But agree to disagree I guess.

I somewhat agree. There are some aspects that are pure infantilization. Just like in the sexy concept there are some aspects that are just exploitative. Those are the dark sides of both of those concepts that, exist yes, and deserve to be talked about, but are both rare. You shouldn't stereotype the rest of the concept by those rare parts and accuse someone of perpetuating them every time someone decides to do the concept. Which happens quite often with cute. Which you did in your original post.

Cute ≠ acting like a child. Like...

    :pepewhat:

It's always felt wrong to me when people praise girl crush concepts for being "empowering" but then put down cute concepts for being "disempowering" or "infantilizing." I'm not saying that girl crush isn't empowering. As long as there are people who are more comfortable being mature, girl crush will be empowering. What I'm saying is that girl crush is associated with being "empowering" while cute concepts aren't. That shouldn't be the case.

As long as someone enjoys a concept, it's empowering. There are people out there who don't feel comfortable being a "bad bitch" and are more confident being cute. Yet when groups do cute concepts, they're accused of "anti-feminism" or "appealing to creepy men." Even if the group had minors in it. It boggles my mind how some kpop fans will praise a group for doing girl crush then turn around and put down a group for being cute.

There is almost this embarrassment around cute concepts in kpop right now, specifically with I-fans. If someone praises a group for having a cute concept, there will be like 200 people in the replies saying that "noooo the concept isn't cute, its "fresh" or "bright" but not cute." And point to the one speck of black in the fountains of cute and bubblegum as their evidence. Like, let groups be cute without treating it like they're doing something embarrassing.

TLDR: Let groups do what makes them comfortable. Don't praise them for being "empowering" or shame them for being "disempowering" based on the concept.

Wow that title is really misleading. Thanks for this btw.

It's been two generations since Suzy first came into the spotlight yet there seems to be no one that has a reputation like hers. Sucess-wise, Irene came close until the scandal happened and Jennie has a lot of potential since she's taking over most of Suzy's old cf jobs. But what I'm really curious about is who will follow Suzy up as the Nation's Love. She was the Nation's First Love. Korea adores her and still does. At her peak, she was so well-liked that she could have a dating scandal and her fanbase wouldn't waver. So my question is, will there ever be another idol that will be as loved as Suzy.

Like, they both fit the cute concept so well that it looks like it was made for them. Plus they both reinvented said concept to fit their new generation. Jiyoon has even worked on weeekly's albums like Chaeyoung did in TWICE's early days. While I think in the future STAYC might be TWICE'S successors success-wise. I think that concept-wise that title belongs to weeekly.
