I love these performances. The heart shaker stage was what made me stan.

Like, they both fit the cute concept so well that it looks like it was made for them. Plus they both reinvented said concept to fit their new generation. Jiyoon has even worked on weeekly's albums like Chaeyoung did in TWICE's early days. While I think in the future STAYC might be TWICE'S successors success-wise. I think that concept-wise that title belongs to weeekly.

I agree. I think it's unhealthy to completely devote yourself so much to a group that you sacrifice your personal taste, opinions, and morals for people who don't even know you exist.

I wasn't around during this time so maybe there was backlash and I missed it. But I didn't see anything about the... um...interesting choreo in the comments of this or the mv. Wasn't she like sixteen during this. They should have given her a choreo that was far more appropriate for her age.

I mean you're right to an extent. There are some parts of Gee and TT that are dated. But the reasons you listed don't make sense. DU-DU-DU-DU has a repeating chorus and it isn't dated, Scream has a repeating chorus and it isn't dated. And the cute sound in both those songs doesn't make them dated either.

After School, Tag me (@ Me), and Hello by weeekly, Q&A, Love so Sweet, and Follow Me by Cherry Bullet, V.AV.I Girl, Sunday, and Milkshake by Fanatics. Those are all cute songs that came out recently that don't sound dated because they have the cute sound. Heck, Hello takes inspiration from the second gen yet still sounds modern. Mixing and composition trends of a time make a song sound dated.

Gee and TT sound dated because they came out in 2009 and 2016. If a cute song came out now that had a repeating chorus like Gee and TT but mixed in some modern song-making trends, it wouldn't sound dated.

It will be! It's a cycle that goes round and round. Cute was phasing out when SNSD / 2NE1 started entering their later years. Then it was sexy / retro for the trend. Then TWICE and Red Velvet became hits with their earlier songs/concepts and it became popular again to do bright concepts once again. Now that the top groups are entering their later years for the 3rd gen, I predict the cycle will come back around and that bright concepts will make a comeback.

Yep! All it will take is a big 4 group to debut with this concept or for STAYC to reach TWICE level for bright and cute to be everywhere again.
