from what i'm gathering it is lol i thought it was weird at first and then i looked into both tags and it appears to be some fun joke thing and a bunch of memes it's comical if you actually go to twitter and click it lol
if not here lol

Actually lol it's a new twitter feature of a voice chat in a group. Those names trending are the names of the group chats. Stuff like this is happening there:

Please they introduced some weird audio room spaces feature and stans are now screaming at each other on call over pop culture.

I assume Chinese numbers are heavily weighted otherwise you will find the local Chinese artists on the list but you don't and yet the Chinese sales when factored for foreign artists gives them slight boost. Without China they have 1M+ which would make it difficult yes. I'll give you a way to hazard a guess. Take the UWC list and remove everyone who is heavily streamed. You might get some contenders.

The more wildly liked something is the lesser it’s regarded in quality because the more people there are the more you’re appealing to the lowest common denominator
Stupid logic. More like special snowflake syndrome. I'll give you another logic. The lesser regarded the product the lesser its probability of having higher regard in quality considering it has been rejected for a reason.
Also it doesn't work for idol music. It's meant to cater to a certain kind of audience: those who seek fanservice and escapism (by the DEFINITION OF AN IDOL). You are not in rock and indie niches sweetheart. Idol "music" is an ultra capitalistic manufactured export. So your point about it being "highly regarded" becomes moot.

So military is the place where they all run away huh. Hope they give him the deserved treatment there. Public Service Worker. Knetz are gonna be furious.

a few scenarios, depends upon how Chinese sales will be counted (since IFPI counts them)
1. If the Chinese sales are not weighted and counted as they are then they might have a chance.
2. If Chinese sales are weighted then they might have a chance if the cut off turns out to be low (because I presume they will have 1.4-1.7M sales.

It's popular because it appeals to a wider audience, doesn't mean that what doesn't it's bad just because it appeals to a smaller amount.
I never said that? I simply think the mindset of indie stans who hate on something popular just because it is popular is corny. I used to be in rock fans community and this behavior was so rampant there.

could be different reasons
sometimes it just has better marketing
Meh. Market as much as you want but if the product is unsatisfactory I have the freedom to discard it.
-
Well I do not have any personal agenda here since I do not stan any of that acts, but people sound especially salty here with that imaginary "China superior" arguments.
No Korean or foreign act will actually achieve notable success in China on Chinese locals scale since the market is closed and concerts are impossible. Concerts are the main source of profit for every artist that's why Japan with their concert venues infrastructure is and will always be the best market for Koreans.
I'm just trying to decide if they are just delusional or salty-delusional....
This lol. Also if we start counting Chinese sales to the truest then kpop will vanish altogether in front of local artists. Artists there sell 47M sales of their single (legitimacy questionable) and they still don't make as much money.
Not to mention you need political backing to succeed in China. A lot of Chinese artists become kpop idols to gain a fanbase back home due to the lack of political backing.

China has + 2billions people so i know their power
1.4B**

Meh. Something is popular for a reason. Such a weird complex I always see in indie fans.

Anyways I am old. What's Rollin'?

They didn't care even more back then during the times of 2nd generation. The reason why no one ever responds to CA cases? Because it's true they don't care. I-fans are all bark no bite. K-fandoms, when they threaten to boycott, they actually do. Companies only listen if you hurt their pocket and the majority of money they make from Korea, Japan and China. A lot of idol groups even give special content to Japanese and Chinese fans.
But if this is related to the Spotify issue then this is just biting them in the back. After all Kpop companies do need exposure especially to foreign market since kpop is supposed to be an export. Unlike Japan, which was closed off to the whole world but could sustain itself because of how big the market is, Korean music market is small. The Spotify issue will hurt them. Exposure is important.
