that's very true. i didn't think about that. people don't really see artists like bts with little label support succeed. so when people see bts charting #1, they think they're achieving their success through unethical means

i had this really weird conversation with someone where they were adamant that bts was manipulating the charts. they kept going about how fans buying loads of music = manipulation. (it's funny how when people say that bts manipulate the charts, they never have any other point to talk about except that their fans buy a lot of music.)

i've seen this many times on twitter too. this has never been an issue like this with other artists as far as i've seen, so why is there such an uproar for bts? it seems like what bts has been doing is perfectly fair to me.

i think a part of it is b/c kpop is still a "new" thing to the general public in the west. because it's new to them, kpop stans and their actions stand out way more. they're used to artists like lady gaga, tswift, ari. so western pop stans don't really stand out. idk if that makes sense lol

i also feel like partially it's some racist, xenophobic thing? i've seen many times where ppl criticize toxic kpop fans and there are some underlying racist tones. if somebody already hates kpop and has racist feelings towards it, they're more likely to call out the toxic fans b/c it paints kpop and the korean artists in a bad light.

i think it's an okay song, it's definitely not trash like other people think ... but i do like butter more and i do think bts could do better
